Hi Everyone,

I am currently growing two white widow autos that will be 9 weeks this Saturday. One is about two weeks out from harvest and the other is still growing and has about 6-10 pistols showing on the stem at the nodes.

First grow. Both are in soil under a 20/4 light schedule.

The question is....should I switch the light to 12/12 or keep waiting?

I also have 4 autos vegging under a T5 in the tent as well. If I switch to 12/12 for a week will this mess up these plants and reduce the yield on my one that is currently flowering?

Should I keep waiting for it to flower on the current light schedule? Should I put it in a dark closet for 24 hours?

Sorry for all the questions!! Thanks in advance!!

Looks like the ones you are wondering about are phtoperiod. You will require a 12/12 hr darkness period for them to flower. This will go until harvest to be successful.

12 / 12 may hurt the yield on your autos, but they will still produce for you! Unless you have a second setup!

Chances are the nodes showing sex are preflowers.

If my seedlings are under 12/12 can they go back to 20/4 after the others are out?

Absolutly, if possible though, I would still take them out and the t5 light you have going and just run them normally :)

Chances are they will all be finished around the same time, you may get 2-3 weeks additional for your little ones!

*If* you can grow outdoors, I would toss the photo outside as not to hurt your autos, on a plus it would grow great :) But thats if it is legal where you are ;) (I assume BC lol)

Also, be aware that photoperiod depending on strain will grow an extra 50-300% its size that it is in veg when switched to flower.

If you decide to keep it in the tent, you may need to do some lst on it. Just given how much room you have, also if you can when you switch it cut out some of the small branches and lollipop to make it put its energy into the tops or you tend to get lots of popcorn bud, this just cuts out the weak stems and allows more light into the more important bud sites.

Thanks a ton for all of the insight!!

I guess defoliation, etc is ok now that it is a photo and not an auto?

Yuppers :) I wouldnt defoilate any later than 3 weeks into flower though, that's my cut off date ;) If it only has a bud here and there and not entirely flowering I would assume when they crossed it with the ruda, the genes from the photo were either dominant or you just got "lucky" on the draw. Its not common but does happen.

Either way, contact the breeder if it was supposed to be an auto to let them know. Most breeders will replace your seed. It also helps them determine seed quality :)

Yeah, 12/12 them and hope they flower. I've never incurred a problem changing light schedules for a week or two such as going 12/12, then back to normal light schedule.

Thanks so much for all of the help!!

Ok so I did what I’m hoping is the best thing. I took the seedlings out and put them in a closet on a light on 24/0 for now. They will get very little airflow as I have to leave the sliding doors open just a crack or my gfs cat will get into them.

I now have the tent on 12/12.

I pulled about 2X what is in the picture of junk leaves out of the base of the plant and it is still a MESS in there with so many vine like stems all over the place. Am I fine to cut a ton of this out? Stems and all? Including some of the big ones you can see in the picture?

Thanks again!!

No problem. Start with the weak stems and work from there. Focus on removing anything that is below your main canopy. If it seems like a strong branch keep it. Also clear out the bottom 1/3 of the plant growth. Any new nodes that are developing that do not receive any or little light. It will seem like a mess but will work in the end :)
