Good question. I am thinking of buying either these airpot, or smart-pots/Rhizo-pots. Will do a couple runs first before moving to DWC. The only bad thing about airpots is that apparently there is a lot of run-off through the side holes. People have been going around this issue using cling wrapping film, but seems like too much of a hassle, especially if you have more than a couple of plants.

By design, I expect the Rhizopots to be a bit better in this regard, while maintaining the same air pruning qualities (or even better? smaller and lots more holes)...?

Absolutely. In my opinion if your not using them and your growing your doing yourself a immense disservice. Your plants grow bigger for the size container there in and they grow way faster. You can look around on the journal mind you there growing technique might not be up to par but generally there always smaller for same size container and same stage of development.

Some say there costly well growing is costly anyone that says any different is lying.

Rizopots are also called Smartpots. Ive tried them and hated them. I will explain that in a second. On the water running out of the holes.....mmmm thats supposed to happen. I never water in my tent. I water in my bathtub. The water coming out of the holes is normal and should be expected. It does not gush out like a fountain just dribbles out but thats a good thing it means that the entirety of your soil is getting wet just not going to the bottom. Wrapping them in plastic is stupid. Would not do it.

Why did I hate the Smartpots (Rhizo-pot in your case) well when you water them all the water collects. The frabic traps it. It takes FOREVER for them to get rid of the run off...airpots on the other hand 30 min after you water not a drop comes out. The water would soak the frabic and the dirt would block it. You have to have a caddy. You put a smartpot on the ground with no air underneath and all you will have is a wet moldy pot after a while.

Also there not really reusable. The roots grow into the frabric. As for airflow I think its worse as the frabric remains drenched and blocks air. I had to have mine on a caddy inside a water collector. They would stay wet for a week.

Lastly the other thing I hated was the roots grew into the fabric and when you move them you can rip the roots.

I will never use them again nor do I recommend them.

I'm hopping on the bandwagon, dude this looks interesting to say the least! :pop:

Do you have to wear some form of sun block when working under that monster? :D

:peace:

These things are growing astoundingly fast if you go back 2 days in this journal when I last took pics. The Wappa is the biggest followed by the Think Different. My little Dinafem Fruit is chugging right along! Its been less then 2 weeks I think!!! Not really keeping track. There done when there done :)

Wow, lots of quality info right there!

Heres some pics of what I got under my other LED in my bigger tent...800w Solarstorm. Going to be throwing the autos in when its flowering time.

The tallest is 30 inches, then 27 and 24. There growth has just about stopped and all on bud production now. Getting a little fatter every day. Got about 4 weeks left.

Been giving them my regular nute regiment at about 50%-60% of base nute recommendation and seem to handle it fine. Getting stinky kushy smelling now so if you grow this remember odor control/carbon fan to.

Also plant tents to be on the bigger side. I only veged to 8 inches and the tallest has increased in height almost 4x so plan it accordingly.

Im using Advanced Nutrients Sensi Bloom A/B, Advanced Nutrients Carboload, Bud Candy, Big Bud, Bontanicare CalMag, and Dutch Master Gold Silica. I only give the Sensi Bloom once a week usually on Saturday or Sunday. In every watering all the rest though. Hopefully it pays off with some heavy bud!!! Wanna see those stems fill in!

Crazy to think that on July 28th they only had one set of leaves. Fast grower right here.
