New Grower 600W MH/HPS - DWC - Mephisto Fantasmo Express && Sweet 'n' Sour

I proccessed all my trim and smalls with dry ice. I was very conservative and ended up from both plants with about 4oz of bubble but my harvest amount for the sweet and sour since I did not defoliate was only about 5oz. The sweet and sour was very very sticky and full of crystals so I was not worried about it effecting the hash I just did not want to trim the little ones!

Both are all curing and I am playing around wich pressing my bubble in to traditional hash which is my preferred way to smoke with some tobacco anyways. I will do a full smoke report when the cure is good enough. The fantasmo has gotten a slight hayey smell and so I am burping it longer daily. Humidity has been high and it has been quite a balancing act although I have a desiccant on the way. All is going good and the plants were a joy to grow. Worst case scenario with the fantasmo it has a great effect it just lacks the flavor/taste. The sweet'n'sour smells crazy citrusy and I cannot wait to try her! The bubble from her kept some of that smell and I do hope it stays after pressing.

Does anyone know if their is a way to recover the posts I put up closing out my journal? I did a full smoke report etc and talked to a few others here and it appears to be gone due to recent down time. Will I need to do the reports again? That will take a bit of time as I am very busy currently.

Well folks I hate to leave something undone, so in the spirit of procastanation I am closing out this journal (again!) with my strain reports. Grow was enjoyable and the plants grew me as much as I grew them. They were fueled not just by the nutrients and check ups I provided but also by the smoke from my wood fire and the exertion from my work outs. I find the plants themselves to be a spiritual experience. I know I sound pretty dippy!

SeedBank :
Mephisto
Strain: Fantasmo Express (refereed to as [HASHTAG]#2[/HASHTAG] in journal)

Did it autoflower?: Yes
Soil/hydro:
DWC in 3.5gallon buckets. Clay pebble media.

Nutes:
Fox Farms Organic 3 part

Light (kind and schedule):
Lighting was a 600w HID with a HPS+ from hortilux. Started off at 50% so 300w and went up as grow went on.
I love this bulb but it costs, When I burner her out cobs will be next.
From seed to harvest date: 70days
Dry Yield: 232g (8.2oz)
High/Effect Duration: Racey Sativa, I harvest early for it to be racey but I harvested a little too early. Not because of effects but just a lack of good smell.

BAG APPEAL: No Rating, I don't grow for this.
THE GROWTH: 5* Fast and easy to maintain.
THE SMELL: I harvested early and didn't trim good enough. Cannot rate as not fault of plant.
THE SMOKE: 5* smooth with a very light taste, A friend who does not like the taste of weed loves blunts from this plant due to the lower taste. Smell on bud is also lesser, discrete.
THE HIGH: 5* very up and strong. I made pressed hash and it was very very potent. I intend to making some tincture in the next few weeks and more butter. I really enjoy the smoke on this one. Especially for hash, it was very oil and smoked beautifully.

From seed to harvest date: 70days
Dry Yield: 5oz bud, ton of smalls and trim so 4oz of bubble
High/Effect Duration: More mellow, a nice in between smoke. In smaller usage can be good for daytime/use when doing labour etc. Very enjoyable and chill stone.

BAG APPEAL: No Rating, I don't grow for this.
THE GROWTH: 5* Fast and easy to maintain.
THE SMELL: 5* Very citrusy, smells great and has a strong sweet citrus smell.
THE SMOKE: 5* Citrusy tones and smooth, Strong white ash on blunt if that is your kinda thing.
THE HIGH: 5* relaxed and chill in larger quantities. Pairs well with coffee if you want it to be more up and with herbal tea if you want it to be more down. Very malleable stone!

Hey there. Thanks for sharing. I will be going through this thread here now, but please may I ask you about the timing of your Fantasmo harvest?

I have 2 Fantasmo's almost done now, 100% Organic outdoor UK
Actually maybe I can load a photo, this is my first ever post here in fact, let me see...

Okay I'm not sure where the images will appear, but here are our 2 Fantasmos.
The small one, in a 9L airpot, was a bit of a freak from the start as a seedling and never really got going like the others, but it has produced some really lovely flowers which I have sampled prematurely and was mightily impressed with the potency and purely enjoyable especially for a 3 1/2 week early bud.

I have chronic fatigue and really need to avoid couchlock, amber, Cbn. So I shoot for max THC.
Both of our Fantasmo's are almost ready. Fantastic trichomes all over like I've never seen on any of our autoflowers before perfectly formed and developed at 81 days the majority are cloudy there are just a few Amber here and there but on most parts of the plant no visible Amber at all yet and still some perfectly formed but clear trichomes which I expect will go milky within a few days.

I dont exactly want amber trichomes, but my understanding has always been that there will inevitably be at least some Amber trichomes at the peak potency stage, just as there will always be some clear trichomes at the peak potency stage as well.

I really want to time this just right this time because I have messed up in a bath and harvested too late effectively ruining the bud for me.

I'm thinking just two or 3 days maximum to let the massive abundance of amazing trichomes which are just starting to go cloudy to finish to my desired level before too many go Amber.

The plants are smelling absolutely heavenly right now like they do when they are in their absolute prime. So I'm pretty confident about being perfectly placed, bang on top of it for a perfectly timed harvest.

But I'm really curious how you do this yourself, as you say you choose to harvest early.
Do you basically take my approach, wait for mostly cloudy before too many go amber?

Or harvest with a mixture of clear and cloudy, before any amber appear? I'm guessing this harvested Fantasmo was a mixture of clear and cloudy? That could certainly account for the lack of aroma although this can be quite strong during this phase I have found, past a point.

I also have acquired the notion that specific strains would be ideally harvested with a higher ratio of amber vs other strains.

But I dont know how that might apply to indica and sativa. People who really like their strong indicas for knockout and couchlock effect, naturally gravitate towards the higher percentage of Amber.

But I can't help feel that personally if I am growing an indica then I wany even less Amber trichomes then if I was going a sativa dominant strain like Fantasmo, where maybe a few more amber trichs would be better and bring a more balanced and fulfilling effect.

Or have I just got this all modelled up in my head? It's OK no need to answer that I'm just kind of thinking aloud really.

Anything you might add would be of great interest anyway thanks for sharing your grow I'm looking forward to reading more about it now.

I harvested mine around day 65 if I remember right, I had no amber just couldy and clear! Next time I would wait a little longer to get to where you are with that hint of amber. Plant looks great man, If I was you I would harvest now. I would not stress a little bit of amber anyways.

Thanks for sharing dude, I appreciate your insights!

Thanks very much for your reply and thoughts. And I'm not actually waiting for Amber exactly I just feel that too many of the trichomes are still clear currently but I'm hoping they will come on quickly over the next few days, currently they are sitting in the kitchen all day today for a rainy day we can't afford to let any rain get on them at all now.

I will have a good look at them tomorrow when I can put them outside again under the jewellers wait and see what I can decide then. Thanks again mate and have a nice evening.

Hey man. I got a chance to take a real good look at both plants and trichs today in good lighting after a rainy day indoors.

Everything I saw was magnifiscent. Buds were shining and glistening, pitols have gone orange but not curled in. They smell amazing. Trichs are getting cloudier, many parts on the plants have mostly cloudy trichomes but with little sections where there are still clear ones and there are other parts of the plant where I feel there could be more cloudiness to come over the next few days and there is virtually no Amber on most of the buds except for specific places where there are clusters like on select sugar leaves which is usual.

So I'm thinking they are quite there yet 2 or 3 days maximum I'm thinking. I got some great shots, even without looking at the trichomes I think it is visible that the plant still has a little way to go to be optimum potency and harvest point but I would be really interested to hear if you have any particular thoughts.
I may need to come back and edit this depending how the images display and there is a chance there will be two of each image as did happen to me yesterday elsewhere.

Here is the smaller one, really beautiful flowers. Maybe Saturday for this one, just a little more time for the still clear trichs to milk up hopefully.

They look amazing, you got me re-eyeing some more fantasmo seeds I have. After you trim tell me how that went for you? I found it a little annoying with all the little bits and the bud is not super dense which I knew going in. Great smoke and very potent so I am not complaining just wondering if you have similar feelings.

Love the plants, great job!

Do I need to do anything to close this journal out? Mark it or anything?
