Mephisto Genetics 4 X S.O.D.K. X ALIEN

Everything appears to be going nicely in the armoire. The look on track for their age. Can't wait till the explode and fill the space. Should be interesting.

Going well. I gave them a good saturation on Monday. Checked the container weight and they are still rather heavy. When in doubt about watering , give it another day. I do a WET/DRY cycle. Full saturation then to nearly dry; repeat. Generally it's three to four days between watering/feeding at this stage of growth. I just lift the SmartPots and check the weight. If they are light to lift then I water.

As the Ganja Guru @Rhyce Saroni has instructed me. It takes a lot of dryness to kill a ganja plant. They love to search for water. Better to have them search for moisture and air out the soil before giving them a good saturation. Then when you saturate the soil it fills the air spaces in the soil with moisture. The girls will drink and search as the soil naturally drys out.

My last grow of Sour Crack I let them dry out for a good three days before harvesting. I took the soil out of the smart pots two days later. The soil was still damp around the tap root stem and the fine root system filling the Smartpot was totally dry.

A WET/DRY cycle for me eliminates over watering. It's not the amount of water, but the frequency of watering.

Pythium is a fungi that attacks the root systems of plants. It tends to be more of a problem in hydroponic systems and in warm weather. But it also attacks roots in soil that is constantly wet and has low oxygen content. A wet dry cycle works better in a compost situation.

As the plants draw the water out of the compost, air with oxygen gets drawn into the compost keeping the medium aerobic. When you water through to saturation all the stale gasses get driven out and the cycle starts again.

Just read about that in "Teaming with Microbes," one of my textbooks for Organic Gardening. Sounds like you have a great aggregated soil!

Following along with you on this one. After a AFN hiatus, I just posted up a new grow journal. I've got 4 mephisto plants going, too. One of them is also a SODK x Alien. My SODK is definitely out the gate taller than the other three!
