I know trimming sunleaves is controversial butI have 3 weeks to go on my amnesia haze and the canopy is so thick that there is no light getting thru to the inner buds. at this point would it be safe to prune some of the sun leaves so light can get thru or should I leave them alone?

This is a very controversial subject on the forum, some say yes do it, others say no.

Can you not attach some string to the branches and just tie them down to allow light to penetrate that way? It's much easier and doesn't stress the plant as much.

Just my 2 cents

Peace

Try and see if you can't get a few cheap CFLs or something down there. I personally wouldn't remove any (healthy) fan leaves.

Try and tuck the leaves out of the way if you can and if not remove them.

Harvest in sessions is an option, let the lower buds go another 2 weeks after you harvest the top 2/3s of the plant. I harvest all at the same time and go to the less developed pop corn buds first while I let the good stuff cure for sampling and holding me over.

I do what Woolly does. I let mine go quit a long time, I like the pain killer quality you get by waiting, so the popcorn trichs are actually all cloudy and some amber. Plants translocate nutriens and the like throughout the plant and those big fan leaves produce alot of energy that gets transfered to the buds which fatten off the fans. If you got a huge fanny right over the top of a big bud, by all means, tuck the fanny under the bud. Those lower buds are still getting energy from the fans that may be partially shading them from above. I used to get all hung up with making sure all the buds were exposed directly to the light, but now I make sure the huge fans are tucked away under, and the medium and small fans I just let grow and catch light like mother nature intended. Just my 2 cents worth.

At around the same point I've just gone and adjusted all LST to space buds and give more light exposure. I've also chopped some popcorn, a few fan leaves that I couldn't tuck, small stems that will never mature.

I think it depends how much you do and how cleanly you do it. Have a go and see what you think.

Dude I have run tests on this.
I have a buddy that always trims the hell out of his plants and I gave it a shot on a runt abused plant.
This sounds sketchy as hell but you can pluck all fan leaves but the ones directly on the tiny buds at week 2/3 of flower, they will grow just fine size buds and you'll never notice when they're finishing up , a lot of new fans will grow but the buds will have a lot more light.

I think that They need the sun leaves more in veg and the first few weeks of bud but it's really not going to mess anything up if u pull a few big shade leaves blocking nugs.

It will most likely help if you only have three weeks left don't be afraid to try controversial ideas sometimes they work out surprisingly well...

Hi growbieone ,

So by your reckoning.... If I have 10 solar panels and remove 7 I could still get the same power as if I was running 10 panels?

Reminds me of that time I saved a little money in the bank every week for eleven weeks to buy something vitally important to me. Unfortunately around about week seven I took some poor financial advice and just flushed half of my money down the toilet. So when I got to eleven weeks, I couldn't afford what I originally wanted to buy. Sure, I bought something, and enjoyed it. I even convinced myself it was what I'd always wanted. But because of that poor advice, I never really got what I could have. True story dudes.

To be fair seasick, your analogy was snappier.
