I plant straight into 3 to 5 gallon pots with clear covers over the seed. Once they pop out, I give them another week (give or take) under the cover just to get some roots established before the fan breeze hits them.Should I put the cup once it breaks out ?

I like the greenhouse effect it gives, especially with my low RH desert environment. Some cover longer, some not at all. It's personal preference. In the summer I have to cover or they dry out too fast.
On the light cycle, I've had the best luck with a 20/4 or even 18/6 schedule. At least for me, giving the gals a break works well. I try to time lights out for the warmest time of the day.
It's a fun journey, and everyone eventually finds what works best for them
