Lighting 2nd Grow (Soil/LED/PC Case) - SS Russian Rocket Fuel

Anytime man, sounds like you're on top of it. Let me know if you need anything.

Oh by the way, those thc%s you see all the time are to be taken lightly IMHO. Those tests are done under optimum conditions by great growers. So that isn't always what the average Joe is gonna get like us. Just wanted to put that out there. I wouldn't go by those so much, go for otherwise quality and smell/taste, yield and size that you're looking for.

I hear ya - I don't take them literally (THC %'s) but use them as a base for anticipating quality of potency. I grow one or two dwarf auto plants at a time, in a PC case, and a 2-ft wooden box, and an oz lasts me 2 months, some times more, or less. It's probably the coolest thing ever to be able to grow word class bud in your closet for a personal stash, when no one knows where it comes from. :) It's rewarding as hell when you succeed and figure it out.

Any ways, it's just a factor for me, to have something that knocks you silly for a few hours with just a few one-hits, as I don't smoke bongs or joints etc.., and need it to last. So I tend to stick to auto's with a % of 15 or more. Hope that makes some sense.

PS - Have only done one run-off watering so far, didn't test it - but will next time I do. With me it's almost always a PH issue or high temps. I will stick with the GH up/down ph solutions, versus the organic stuff I think. I need a quick, stable reading.

There's no reason I should be doing anything other than adding a little PH-down to a gallon of fresh spring water ultimately, once a week.

The organic ph up/down solutions take so much longer to give a stable reading, and can leave residue/solids in your water with higher amounts.

This picture tells the tale: (comically stunted, curled-under leaves, bad color, but still grows)

A real runt, some discoloration still from the high PH previously, but growing daily now.

Looking forward to seeing how that Russian Rocket fuel turns out, been considering using those genetics. I think I will tag along for the ride. Good luck to you TokinNuggs. I am using a 100w Blackstar aswell, my first led and my girl loves it, at this stage in their growth let them get close and hug that light. The light distance from canopy I have been using never exceeded about 4in, and presently my girl is only about an inch away, temps sway from 78 - 85 without any trouble. I had similar problems with PH and over fert early on but squidherb helped me out with that. You have a good support system here.

Again looking forward to seeing more.

Thanks for the comments TJ - the 1 month old RRF above is in bad shape, but still kicking and pushing out pistils, but her fans leaves are pretty much dead and the entire plant is stunted. My yield, if it makes it, will probably be pretty minimal.

I have the Blue Mammoth and another RRF that sprouted a day or so ago and are now in small containers with FFOF soil (+ a lil perlite) and Rapid Rooter plugs sitting under two 13W CFL's for now.

I'm simply going to try and grow them out with no added nutes, just the FFOF soil and spring water ph'd to around 6.5-6.7. I'll transplant them into some fresh FFOF soil and bigger pots after about 2-3 weeks.

I don't care about yields or size - I need to learn how to grow healthy plants in my tough conditions first. Keeping my temps down and watching my water's PH like a hawk (as well as using non-organic solutions to adjusting it) is what I have to do it seems.

Run-off of the month-old, stunted/sick RRF is 6.2 right now, just fed with 6.5 ph spring water.

New growth looks fine, old growth is dying fast, completely yellow and dried-up, including the two larger fan leaves. Pistils and budding sites still developing though at least, retaining that fuel smell when you get close. Another ugly plant *sigh*

Blue Mammoth and the last RRF seedlings are doing fine - although the RRF seedling is pointing up a bit and I've put another fan on the CFL above it. It's really not hot in that box (81 F ambient w/o fans). Should be ok by tomorrow.

Watering as they dry out with 6.6 ph spring water, as they sit in small containers with straight FFOF soil and some perlite, inside the rapid rooter plugs.

**PS - I'm writing all of this down so I can go back and see what I did etc.., and when, more of a personal journal - nothing exciting until I get some growth and can post some pics.

Stunted RRF still managing to pump out pistils

Fed the mature RRF with 1/2-3/4 tsp of GH Flora Bloom, Grow and Micro to a gallon of 6.5 ph Spring Water tonight. Has been in new OF soil for a little over 2 weeks now. (why she's droopy, although I have most of the larger leaves tucked-in underneath (why she looks even smaller than she is)

I'm on the right track finally. Mature RRF is in its 6th week (need to double-check that) but would be about 7th week from seed. I can't imagine she'll be ready in a week, more like 2-3. Fed her last night with some GH Flora Bloom and Grow (1 tsp each) and top dressed with some new FFOF soil. Not sure if I'll feed again.

6 day update, left to right:

Blue Mammoth (more resistant to heat, but a bit smaller, already firing out pre-flower pistils)

Russian Rocket Fuel (heat stress has affected leaves, dealing/working with it)

Russian Rocket Fuel Mature (will be 8 weeks from seed a week from today, looks like one big, fat dense bud, but not much else)

Feeding schedule:

Fed first two plants tonight and decided to go with General Organics for them, as I liked the potency/taste of my Lowryder #2 with them. 1 tsp or less each of BioMarine, BioWeed, BioThrive Bloom, and a little under 2 tsp's of CaMg+ added to adjusted 6.4 PH spring water (and behest of GH's rec's, but I don't care, I'm not feeding them acidic water/solution in FFOF soil).

Mature RRF got a dose of GH Flora Bloom nutes and a teaspoon of Molasses - last feed for her - nothing but water to flush for next week or two until harvest (trichs still clear, test bud or two last week wasn't very potent or smokeable either, looks like a 9 week job, *sigh*) :)

* EDIT - Blue Mammoth is the non-flowering one above, that has now grown into the top of my cabinet and I'm deciding whether I can/want to keep her at this point.
