On Day 9 I found the tap root from the Rapid Afghan peeking out through the bottom of this big ass 1' tall airpot!
It's cool to know that she went straight down through the seedling soil in the middle. You can see where the tap root split into two and then got air pruned. It looks like two brown hairs hanging on. (Can't see the hairs in the pic though.)
Both the ER and the RA have been slow to start, but I think they've decided to start growing. They've both been putting on some serious millimeters these last two days! In width. Not too much in height. lol But seriously, they have been.
That was the RA, about 5cm tall. The ER is a little taller but with thinner leaves and is just a very small bit behind in leaf growth.
They've been getting some very light bubbled teas. Combinations of molasses, seaweed, alfalfa and distilled water, with a few drops of lemon juice added after brewing to lower pH down to 5.8 - 6.4. I'm not trying to make it an exact pH value every time. Different goodies are taken up through the roots at different pH levels. So my thinking is, I'm sort of sweeping the spectrum and getting more than I would if I just stayed at one specific value. Is this faulty thinking? Please tell me so if it is!
My humidity sucks at around 40% (when it's high!) so I'm trying to keep that up with containers of water and doing a lot of misting
Lights are on 24/0 with each plant receiving it's own combination of 56w blue + 23w red cfl's about 6" above the plant.
Temps are between 24° and 26°.
And now I'm off to sample some EasyRyder that's been curing for three weeks....
