My bad my bad. I didn't notice that. I have the hydro one too. I didn't even know that they made a soil one. Good looking out brotha. And thats why I am glad you can edit. Reverse erase erase erase and poof. haha

Thanks all.. I just have some things to do after I get all my stuff and we'll be rockin'.

I will go to the local hippie store and get Fox Farms Ocean Forest and a bag of Happy frog.
heehee...Sorry, that made me chuckle.

Hey man, great set-up! It won't be long now.

The only difference in the trio packs is the Grow Big formula, Grow Big Soil is 6-4-4 and Hydro is 3-2-6. You're going to be running FFOF as well, so using a veg nute will already have to be at a lower dose. The Hydro version is highly water soluble and even more concentrated. I'd use 1/4 the feeding if you're using the hydro version(blue bottle instead of green for grow big) in soil, maybe even 1/8 since you're using FFOF as well. Don't go nute crazy, autos love to get stressed out and stunted that early on with all that kind of stuff going on.

I found a place close by that actually carries Promix products!

I am just not sure if I can mix it like Muddy does. Please send me your mix. Remember, I am very new at this so please specify the amounts of each ingredient.

They also carry Fox Farms.

When I germinate, I do so in just straight Promix?

Then after they sexing, transplant in to the Promix mixture you use?

I am torn between using Promix and FF OF & Happy Frog. Happy Frog has alot of nutes already in it. I mean I could germinate in Promix and transplant into a 50/50 mix of FFOF & HF.

I don't expect to get anywhere near the results most of you do, but I just don't wanna screw up for a 3rd time! haha

I wouldn't worry about amending your mix right now. I'm using straight ProMix with good results. Make sure you have a bottle of calmag on hand. Once you had a few grows under your belt you can start mixing your own soils. Also if you have the space I would germinated straight into their final pots, unless you have experience at transplanting. You can easily stunt your plants at transplant.

You could go either way and get good results. The FF mix might be a little easier for a first grow. Pro Mix is basically sphagnum peat moss, perlite, lime and some micro and macro nutrients, a soil less mix. With that you have to supply all the nutrients so a good nute line is recommended. With the FF it already has nutrients in it so less work on your part with feeding. Like Jackal, I've done grows in straight Pro Mix without adding any manure or worm castings, and gotten good results. For germination I would recommend the Pro Mix over the FF. FF can be too hot for seedlings sometimes. I germinate in Pro Mix with 1/4 teaspoon of blood meal added to a 4.5" square x 5" deep pot. I've found that straight Pro Mix doesn't have enough nitrogen for auto seedlings.

I've only heard one other person say this (adds nutes to seedling mix)... and, like Muddy, that person is an accomplished grower. I have recently come to the same conclusion, but I wasn't sure how much N to add, so the 1/4 tsp measurement of blood meal helps.

Right now, I have seedlings started in at least a half dozen mix combinations. The ones with absolutely no nutes have performed very poorly for me. I have been reluctant to say anything because the conventional wisdom seems to be "no nutes for at least two weeks".

Thanks, Muddy. :peace:

My vote: Muddy's Pro-mix recipe for seedlings. Since you're brand new, FFOF after sex. JMO.

Ok. Also I got my carbon filter and fan out today! Damn the thing is huge... I am gonna have to figure out how to mount it on the outside of my growbox. If I put it inside, I won't have room for my LED & oscallating fan & heater!

Will this be ok? I will have a vent for fresh air intake, but I'll have to use the carbon filter for the exhaust!

I also may have asked this before, but I will germinate in the dark?

And when they sprout I put my LED on them at what height above them to begin with.

And I should go with 24/7 for the first couple of weeks and then 18/6?

I'm having trouble remembering all of this.. without going back and re-reading everything I already have..

Must be my short term memory loss kicking in!

I did buy a mylar grow tent, but unless I can adjust the dimensions a little, I don't think it'll fit in my space.. Will it hurt if the mylar is wrinkled per say.

The one I got is 2'x4'x60"... It's a little too high. I should be able to adjust the 60" down to a shorter distancs.
