Hi
This will be my first auto grow journal.
Also my first auto grow.
But not my first grow grow.
Please note that these are not my “babies”, not my “girls”.
These are the “plants” I am growing...

Cab is 2.5 sf with 30 inches of head space.
110 watts of meanwell driven Hlg Qb 288.
That’s about 43 watts per square foot.
4 inch inline exhaust with scrubber.
Muffin fans for air movement.
2.5 gallon Hempy buckets with 3-1 perilite/vermiculite.
I’ve grew hempy for years then went to notill.
Life changes has pointed me back to hempy.
Useing only diy Mega Crop concentrate
(10ml to 1 gram) start to fin.
550 ppms

These both are freebies from seedsman. I thought I’d use freebies for the first grow.
They are both 17 days from germ

The top pic is RQS Nothern lites auto plant
It’s been topped at day 14

The bottom pic is a Auto diesel plant that was Fimed at day 14.

Any thoughts ideas will be most welcome.
Otherwise will be updating weekly.

One ?
The fans on the NL are huge.
Should I trim for more light penetration??
Thanks and grow kool.

Plants looking good so far bud!

I would not remove any leaves for a while as they are still pretty young and with an auto if they get stunted you can't increase veg time to fix it.

I'm not sure if it's just the pictures but they do look real dark green. Some autos eat less than photos so they might be getting too high a feed, but it could just be the color in the pictures.

Good luck on your grow!

@Animatey

Thanks
But gotta admit the plants are doing most the work.
I am a diehard KISS fan.
I did do a lot of research ( even while this site was down) and one common thought was autos are less nutrient hungry than photos.
I too noticed the dark leaves this morning dureing picture time.
Mega Crop also suggests to back off if leaves are too green.
So I’ll move my ppm baseline down to 450-500 ppm and see what happens.
I must say I’ve grown photos for years and defoliated heavy all the time.
I was getting twitchy trimming hands.
Thanks for talking me off the ledge!!!
Grow kool

I think your ppm's are to high for there ages. I start with 300 ppm's then move up as the plant gets older. That's just me tho.

@Bigg Al

Morning!!!
I see what your saying.
However I sorta think a plant will take what it needs.
Seeds planted in rich organic soil do just fine....as long as ph is on point the plant will take what it needs.
These plants have been getting 550-600 ppm since day 5 from germ.
A little too green but no burn.
So I’ll be doing 450ppm from seed to chippity choppity.
I like to keep things super KISS.
And I am not a fan of hi ppms
IMHO starting low and building up was started more for beginners to insure they didn’t dump huge amounts of Ferts on young plants.
Start low stay low n the plant will be fine.

Don’t matter how one gets to the finish as long as they finish

Peace

Well
Started with hempy many years back
In the original Over Grow days.
Back then I couldn’t find any vermiculite so went with all peralite and never looked back.
Fast forward to today.
After notill if for a while I’m back to hempy.
And I decided to try hempy with vermiculite /peralite mix.....
Not too happy with it.
While growth is nice, the water retention can’t touch a 100% peralite bucket.
I’ve got to eater every 2 days with these while the peralite bucked I could easily go 3-4 days between watering.
Same grow space
Same size buckets
Looking like it’s back to peralite next time around.
These are day 20 from germ.
The one on the left was topped
The one on the right fimed

Has anything else changed in your method? Maybe a smaller container? Real dry environment?

Vermiculite holds a ton of water, really easy to overwater with that stuff, so I'm surprised it's not holding much. It should hold much more water than perlite.

In my opinion, it's good to have a medium that dries out every 24 hours. Wet dry cycles are great for delivering oxygen and also stimulating roots to grow and seek out additional moisture.

Also i can't see the picture. I think you might need to change gallery permissions.

Ya know
I thought the same thing
What’s changed????
About everything is the same
Or so I thought......
Just secondas ago I realized my ventilation fan is running 24/7
While growing hempy before it was running only when lights are on.
So I went ahead and set it to run while lites on.
Will monitor and check back
Gallery permission???
Never heard of such a thing.
Let me investigate.

If you use a gallery, you have to set permissions on the album.

They confused me so I stopped using them... I just attach images to the post and it seems to work OK [emoji848]
