New Grower 1st Grow: Mephisto Sour Crack/Skywalker COB DWC

I see a bit of amber on this one. If I had to guess, somewhere between 5 and 10 percent are amber. I think I'm gonna cut one down and try to let the stronger plant run until all of its leaves start to yellow and I'm closer to 30% amber, to see which I prefer to smoke. I'm new to this, and have just smoked whatever bagged stuff I can get a hold of in the past. I've definitely preferred some to others, but have never really known the specifics of the genetics. I just knew it smelled great and had lots of nice hairs and crystals and colors and got me really high, or it didn't and didn't lol

So I cut the smaller Sour Crack down. Pictured are the boxes of untrimmed colas, the plant cut down, the trimmed nugs, some mold I found on my air hoses (definitely a recent development), and the root mass, which I struggled with this grow before picking up Hydroguard.

I'm going to post my pump and airstone specs in a bit and see if you all have any recommendations. I'm feeling like hydroguard the whole grow and more air in my water will yield some improvements in my next grow. Maybe I'm getting plenty of air, though.

I weighed the wet trimmed buds for my own records - 240g. I'm estimating it should dry out somewhere nearing 2oz?

I also cut the top off of the bigger Sour Crack, but the bottom buds still have a good amount of white hairs and mostly clear trichs, so I've angled the lights on it and tied the buds up to get a bunch of light and give it a run for the next few days to week or so.

I decided to dry using brown bags as I've read on here. Does it look like I'm doing it right?

thats how i do it in the bags i leave a bit more space in the bag not rolled down so much i don know if it makes a difference

I've been burping them daily since I hung them, and they seem to be doing alright! I've dried down to about half wet weight now. I figure at about a quarter of wet weight, I'll get it in some jars and see how it looks after a day to see if it needs to dry longer.

Dont think burping them.is necsicarry untill the jars you dont want them to dry in less than 5 or 6 days any less it's too fast

Oh, I totally understand and that's what I've read, but it's also my first harvest, so it's nice to take a quick minute and have a look at it as it dries each day. Who am I kidding? It's a compulsive need. I'll calm down next grow, promise!

I've been kind of estimating how dry it is by weight in addition to feel. I'm at my 4th day, and have only lost roughly half the wet trimmed weight so far, so there's definitely still more drying to do.

Also, I cut down, wet trimmed, and bagged the remainder of the other Sour Crack today! She was ready to go, and I'm almost ready to hatch another set of beans.

720g wet trimmed. If I'm able to get even 15% of wet weight out of these, it'll be just almost 4oz. I'll be super happy with that for half of my first go round!

Also, I decided that I'm probably not moving enough air per bucket. I didn't exactly struggle with, but did have some mild root rot almost this whole grow. It got a bit better once I started with the hydroguard, but I think more oxygen is gonna create a much better environment.

I'm currently using 1 of the 4 outlet pumps below for 2 5 gallon buckets in one tent, and then the other tent has 1 of the 2 outlet pumps for each bucket, resulting in about the same lpm on each bucket.

I was thinking about just running 4 of the 4 outlet pumps, 1 for each bucket. You think that would show some improvement in my root conditions, and hopefully yield as a result?

For anyone still following, the Sour Crack is all dry enough for smoking and is now curing in glass pyrex containers with Boveda style humidor packs in them. I went with Humiflow 64%RH packs. Probably smoked through over an oz of that already, and it's lovely! I had 171g dry from them, not counting what I've smoked.

I've got 1 of the Skywalkers trimmed, dried, and curing in the same spot - and just now finished cutting down and trimming the other Skywalker. Based on wet weights, I'm expecting a similar yield from them. Not shabby for a first timer!
