Indoor 1st grow/4x4 tent/1000watts/hydro-soil hybrid/5 strains

Hey all, I just joined, thought I would share my first grow with you, I hope you enjoy.

I am on day 25 of the grow. I have a 4x4 tent with a 1000watt hps/mh. I am using Octopots which are a hydro/soil hybrid system. I have 5 different strains going. Afghan Kush Ryder, Fast and Vast auto, Lemon Haze auto, Auto Acid, and bringing up the rear is Critical Jack Herer auto.

AKR, FAV, & LHA all sprouted the same day, 3 days later AA came up. I tried starting a NL seed but she didn't take and so I started the CJHA, instead, where she sprouted 10 days after the first three.

I have added 2 air stones to each reservoir, I have co2 available but need to work on getting my light cooled down. It's running too hot so I have to keep my filter up high to cool things off which sucks the co2 out to quickly. Should be fixed this week.

I will try and post up a pic, I'm pretty proud. LHA is kicking butt, she's standing at 14" tall and 12" in diameter. FAV, is trucking right along at 9" tall and 14" diameter. AKR seems to be my tortoise, she started a lot slower than the other two but she just keeps growing.

Here is a much better pic. In the tent I have them arranged in a "x" pattern. Back left is Afghan Kush Ryder, back right is Auto Acid, center is Critical Jack(she is approximately 11 days younger than the others. Front left is Fast and Vast, front right is Lemon Haze.

Muffin, try maybe adding a cool tube to your set, and if your vent is powerfull enough you can have a much cooler atmosphere.
I use a custom A-wing, super spreader, cool tube combo, 600hps, 16" from plants with no problems with high temps. I plan moving even closer in next week.
And there is an 45w oscillating vent for moving air under the tube.

Woo hoo! Lemon Haze has grown 3.5" in 46hrs. Just gave a small round of nutes and am preparing some for Fast and Vast. Ill give her some before bed tonight and then the other two tomorrow.

Hey again, its me, The Muffin Man. It appears that I can only edit the latest post in this thread so I am just gonna have to expand on what I've done from this point forward.

I have been smoking for quite some time now and like most, I wanna know what's going into and on the things Im smoking and now eating. So the adventure began, now when I was growing up there were two kinds of growing, soil and hydro. Soil was traditional and hydro was the sh**. I really wouldn't know first hand, having never grown mj before. I have grown other plants and some bonsai trees so Im not a complete idiot, just 1/2 of one.

Now Im flipping through High Times and there is this "hot product" that's the greatness of hydro and the benefits of soil. Ok, I'll nibble so I started reading. The more I read the more I liked what I was reading. I was sold, Octopots was what we were going to be using.

Now Im looking at tents trying to decide. I know the sizes of the Octopots and how I think I want to arrange them. I make a bunch of measurements and do even more figuring. I finally come up with a plan, I will get the 4x4 tent and 5 pots arranged in the shape of an "x" . Like all good plans they are uaually great on paper, but not so great in practice.

When I made these calculations I had not purchased the tent yet. As you can probably guess things didnt quite fit according to plan.

Welcome back all to another edition of The Muffin Man's Late Night Grow.

Where were we, ah yes the best laid plans. Well I called and ordered a 4x4 tent, except 4x4 isn't exactly 4x4. I purchased the Sunhut Blackout 100. They claim 3.9x3.9, alright it might still work. The plan was to place 4 large Octopots in the corners and then putting the 5th in the middle after rotating it 1/8 of a turn. Kinda to look like the 5 side of a die. Well once again 3.9x3.9 isn't exactly 3.9x3.9. Now we get the thing and set it up, woo hoo. Except there are these poles on the inside, along with plastic connectors that make it worse, so now my large pots won't fit in the corner as I had measured.

Ok, if I put plywood down under the bottom reflective tray, it will jack the pots up enough to at least get them as far in the corner as possible. Even with this arrangement I still had to put extra plywood under the center pot so it would sit level and flush and not destroy the pot. Alrighty then, now we are good to go there.

Lights- that's a story. The wife and I go to an auction up the road a bit, there are multiple agency's from that area that are getting rid of surplus property. One of which happened to be the local State Police evidence impound. As Im looking through the auction items I see a pile of grow lights that have a bunch of impound numbers and evidence tags still on them. Turns out it was the second to last pile of items to be sold that day. Patience is a virtue, needless to say I stole candy from a baby. Lets see:

1-1000 watt hps ballast, reflector, bulb combo(sold to the two kids at the auction helping me, +$20)
1-1000 watt switchable mh/ hps ballast, reflector, bulbs combo(this one is mine)
1-1000 watt hps ballast, reflector, bulb combo(will be sold this week +$125)
1-400 watt mh ballast, reflector(this is another I will be keeping)
1-400 watt hps ballast, bulb(this too is one Im keeping)
1-400 watt mh ballast, reflector, bulb combo(sold +$75)
1-250 watt hps ballast, reflector(looks brand new but it didnt come with a bulb, still for sale)
1-co2 regulator and timer/flow controller
3-rail mounted light movers 3.5 size(2 brand new in a sealed box, all still for sale)
2-rail mounted light movers 3.0 size(both still sealed and still for sale)
1- heater
2-thermostat controllers you plug like a heater into
And last but not least, approx 100 cloning cubes
For all that, I paid a great big whopping $15 dollars. Gold mine, thank you. I truly bought it with the intention of just reselling it to make some side cash. Then after the wife and I started talking about it, screw that, keep what we need and lets start growing.

I get online to Herbies Headshop and the selections are pretty much limitless. The best sh** I've ever smoked was called Afghani. Now I do not know if that is really what it was, but hell its worth a try. So, first selection, Afghan Kush Ryder. Now I have Crohns disease and from talking to others, the indicas are generally the better strains for my disease. Next we picked Auto Acid, then Northern Lights. I chose NLs as this is my first grow and she is supposed to be a pretty easy and hearty strain. Last two are Fast and Vast and Lemon Haze. I chose all feminized autos, I figure go easy to start and after one or two grows we will kick it up a notch or two. I wanted all relatively fast and to fit in the tent so fairly small. The other thing I wanted was to be able to go to the drawer and pick a strain for that day. Something I have never been able to do. So 5 different strains ranging from heavy indica, to a 50/50, and then to one good sativa heavy strain. Thanks to Herbies, I also got 3 free Sour Diesel autos and 3 free Critical Jack Herer Autos from Dinafem.

Germination- Nothing fancy, plop them in some shot glasses to soak overnight. Next day, each labeled seed into a labeled pot so I know which is which. Straight to the soil. 3 days later AKR, FaV, & LH all sprouted. AA followed 2 days later. NL looked great at the beginning, but alas never took and rotted. I wasn't going to plant Jackie as they say she can be tough to grow. With NL not taking and now Im a week in to the others growing. They look good, I'll be bold and go for it. Worst case, I screw it up. So Jackie goes for the same procedure and on day 11 she sprouted.

Day 32 sorta
I didnt do pics tonight as I was busy giving my wife part of her back tattoo. I did get some measurements. The ladies are as follows:
1- Afghan Kush Ryder 23h x 15w she is growing at 1.5-2 inches a day.
2- Critical Jack 5.5h x 10w
3- Auto Acid 14.5h x 14w she is growing at 1-1.5 inches a day
4- Fast and Vast 17h x 18w she is growing at 1.5-2 inches a day
5- Lemon Haze 27.5h x 16w she is growing at the phenomenal rate of 2-3 inches a day.

Hey muffin man who's lemon haze did you get? Emerald triangle is who I went with looked like a good mix of a hybrid.

Non the less I put a flash Russian haze in dirt tonight so we will see what happens also just for poops and smiles I put in 2 afghani seeds photos and they are regular seeds if this is a strain that would help you I have 8 left I'd be happy to send your way if you'd like? They were free to me so free to you others have extended the gratitude of offering me seeds that would help some of my friends with cancer and epilepsy so figured id offer to pay it forward
