Ya that's a bit high for me at the moment. . I'll stick with the 3.5x3x5 enclosure , because anything less height wise I think will be too crowded for the ladies vertically.. considering the pots are like a foot tall, and my light will eventually be at the ceiling..1ft tall pot, 12-24" plant. Am I being too optimistic in thinking I need 5' of vertical space? Also, wat sort of yields could I expect from 6 autos under 400 mh/hps in 3x3x5? I'm hoping for at least an oz per plant in the 3gal pots.

You should be good at 5'. I built my bigger area at 6' and the only issues I've had are with the Samarai Jacks I'm now growing. They are a much bigger, sativa based strain that are currently over 3' high. You'll be fine growing the dwarf strains.

Your yields will depend to a large extend on your growing skills. With the right lights, soil and nutrients, yields of 1 oz. or more are easily achievable. I grow in 3 gallon pots and with strains like Mi5, Onyx, AA, etc., routinely average over 2 oz. per plant, sometimes as high as 3.

If you go with that setup from HTG, I'd recommend that you upgrade the bulb to something like a Hortilux with an expanded blue spectrum. You will be able to use it for both veg and flower and eliminate the need to change bulbs.

I am running a 32"X32"X72" Tent, with a 400 watt HPS. I am getting great coverage, on my photo plants, though I only have 3 plants. 2 full sized plants and one clone, flowered just after rooting. I could fit 4 autos in there. More if they were single cola phenotypes, rather than bush type phenos.

Muddy will not steer you wrong.
Have a great week.

thanks for all the imput. Your space is pretty much same size, and your 400 hps light it just fine? I'll go with the 400 hps then. Shooting for 6 girls in 3gal. Hopefully 20-30g per plant. What strains do u recommend for rookie like me? I want high yield, easy to raise, with decent potency. And id like to get 6 in the tent, 3 diff strains, 2 each.. thanks again

It really depends on your strain, and the phenotype. I think that a strain like the MI5, from short stuff seeds, will give you very close to the yield you are looking for, though 6 plants may be a bit crowded for them.I have gotten mainly bush phenotypes from MI5, which would yield better than an ounce per plant, if they have the room, to train them using LST. If you look at the picture of my last post, the plant in the back of my tent, is LST, on a bush phenotype plant. Though I waited a little to long to begin LST, which will hurt the yield a bit, it will more than likely yield more than the front left plant, that was allowed to grow naturally without any training. The LST plant will have larger multiple colas, due to the bottom branches getting better light. On the plant that was allowed to grow without LST, will have a bunch of popcorn buds, on the bottom branches, and one large cola on top.
Hope this helps.

ok cool, u have any strain suggestions for me, in my grow area. 3oz off one auto, thats awesome. I'll def get the better bulb with more blue spec.. if I can get the beans to pop,and sprout I think ill be just fine. Germ and getting them to sprout are the only things I'm worried about.

@ homiehogleg I see what yu mean. Crazy how that works. I'll have to try lst once I get some nugs under my belt. I think my space would be ok for bushy or tall phenotypes . The 3gal pots will have 2-3 inches on all sides to branch out or bush up. 2in. Between pots leaves me like 2ft in back of box to put a small oscillating fan.. had a whole big picture in my head, seems to change every time I visit this site lol

I would suggest some Mi5. Easy to grow, good size and a potent, well balanced high. I've probably grown 40 or 50 of them over the past 3 years and have never had a bush pheno as Homie described. All have been single cola with 4 - 12 side branches.

Germing isn't all the hard. I soak mine for about 24 hours or until the seeds crack. Then I place them about 1/2" deep in the soil and cover them with some finely screened peat moss. Keep the soil moist, not overly wet, around 80 - 85 degrees and they should sprout fine.

80-85 is ideal for seeds to sprout? I need a hygrometer.. wat soil do u recommend for highest germ sprout rate ? How much water for each plant Wen its feed time? Should u get ffof soil or somethin without Nutes in it?

Also, what's best way to store water. I was gonna fill milk jugs with tap water and leave them in my closet till needed . That way by time I needed to water I would have plenty that have been left out to release chlorine, on hand.
