Like it says its only good for a 2x2 ft area maybe for plants in 1 gal pots, better yet 2 plants in 3gal pots.It says spectrum is good for growing but who knows. This light will put out some heat that you have to remove in a small grow closet.

Would using this light be acceptable for vegging or what?

btw, I'm going to be growing in a small closet space
any other inputs on types of lights I should get, tell me.

Putting it simply.. it won't be ideal for vegging because it has no blue spectrum, so you may see stretching.. spindly plants, or plants with poor health. However, you might not see any of that and may get a decent plant from it. Some growers grow exclusively under hps and do ok so you could too. In a small closet space the low wattage will be made use of. The holy grail is to get one gram per watt of light.. so in theory you can grow a yield of 150 grams with that light if all other conditions are perfect.

It'll certainly grow a plant. Will it be ideal for the veg stage? No. Would £50 on a 250w Blue CFL be a better option in terms of balancing lumen output / heat / distance from canopy etc? I reckon so.

:peace:

if you pay £50 for a 250 cfl you must be smoking to much (aswell as spending to much) :P

If your budget would allow it this looks better http://www.growwurks.com/lumatek-250-watt-120-240-volt-digital-electronic-ballast.aspx but you would need to buy a reflector and a lamp, if you got a dual spectrum lamp you wouldnt need to change from mh to hps, just keep the same lamp in the entire grow. you can run it at 175w for veg, and if you dont have any heat issues crank it upto 250w for flowering.

Both of these have been grown underneath 150w HPS since week three. Prior to that they were under Power Compacts.

IMO if used properly, 150 watt HPS can be very effective.

Thanks BB.

You dont get good coverage with a 150w HPS, but the intensity is all there. IMO, one 150w HPS will do fine for one Auto Plant. I am running one Floralux 150w HPS over each plant and I am getting very good results.
