I've read where people leave them go until they fall off the plant looking like "seeds". The kind your used to seeing when you plant one. I'm in your boat, I've never harvested seeds but I've read most of what is on AFN about it. Do some more digging, the info is here, just have to go get it. Whatever you do, don't chop it early, that much I can be sure of. Chop it early and you will have immature seeds that aren't worth a shite. I've seen where people cut the entire rest of the plant down but leave the branch (es) that have been pollinated to cook the seeds longer till finished.
