Orange Oh Yum Yum

Starting my next grow. It’ll be two of mephisto orange oz. It’s the Oreos X super orange haze cross.

I just prepped my soil. It’s 33% coco; 43% perlite; 23% carbon compost and rabbit poop. I’ve also added Calmag, a little bit of phosphorus fertilizer for root development, and I have also put humic acids and fulvic acids. I consider it a cocoa grow with added compost just to give it an extra boost, that way I can have the best of the Cocoa world and the organic world. I also have the air injectors and I’m running auto pots.

Nutrient lineup will be advanced nutrients sensei plus some additives like big Bud, etc.

For this grow, I’m going to immediately add in my side lighting, and the reason for that I wanna have light coming from all angles because I’m gonna do the 420 Auto flower method and I want to be photosynthesizing optimally 100% of the time and when you low stress train, you have a day or so where the light isn’t shining directly on the leaves. Then I will also have under lighting when the plants get a little bit bigger. Sort of be lit from the top, sides, and bottom.

I don’t think I’m gonna use CO2 this grow. And one of the longtime growers here had convinced me to finally go low EC for my last run and it’s really really well so I’m gonna do that again with the mindset that I’m just giving the plant what it needs rather than trying to push it with nutrients and supplements.

Be careful with a lot of that advanced stuff it will clog the shit out of those tiny autopot lines if you were thinking about res feeding it’s best just to stick to the powders they are a lot more clean especially in a system with low agitation and low pressure.

As far as under canopy and side lighting and whatever else if you are going to use any of it you need to lower your top lights intensity a little bit and you don’t use them until the plants are through their stretch and completely into flower.

If you aren’t already running a quality top light it will do a lot more for you to upgrade that first than it will to get under canopy or side lighting, especially if using the 420autoflower scrog method. Look for something that has CMH Spectrum in LED form.

soooo… my seeds aren’t popping… two of them totally failed, and it’s been about a weekso I pulled out two more, and it’s only been a couple days, but they’re still not popping… I have them on a heat pad inside a wet paper towel like I always do. I’ve never had problems making seeds pop. It’s really not that difficult of a process… got any pointers?

I have a new idea to get a little bit of extra air into the roots. This compost/coco is a little bit more compact than normal coco so I think I’m gonna put my air pump on a timer and run it for a few minutes every hour. Autopots recommend not running air because it dries out the roots before they become fully established which is why I’m only gonna run it for a few minutes every hour. They’ve only talked about not using air continuously.

Hey dude!

I usually drop mine in a shotglass of water. Watch for the tail to pop to know it’s viable. Easier to see than wondering what’s up inside a paper towel.

How old are the seeds? If they are 4-5 years try this recipe, if they are new you can skip the sugar.

3% Hydrogen Peroxide
3ml HP to 100ml water
1% sugar
1g sugar into 100ml water

1g sugar, 3ml hp, 100ml water = germination mix

Good luck man!

Use a germination tray, root riot or rapid rooter cubes, get a tray with a lid, stick it on you heat pad, put it under a light be up in 48-72 hours. If you have a. Bunch of empty slots put a rung out damp paper towel in a couple the empty slots. 80° 90% humidity, hitting 100% for almost 3 years and it’s super consistent very rarely do we have one take more than 72 hours and if we do it’s only a day or two

This was the next day

2 days later that last one was up we moved it to the starter buckets before it was opened all the way up and ended up keeping it comes a few more days until the first leaves were bigger than the round leaves and the first multi finger leafs were started.

Ive been having trouble with 2 of my pots they are in 50% cannacoco and 50% really shitty sticky Kellogg cheap soil now I have 2 other pots in 50% canna coco 50% happy frog also added perlite ( i know its over 100% but hey..) and the plants in that mix are doing fantastic anyway im assuming the plants not doing well are hungry they are alive but not really growing and turning yellow im about to switch them to soil and a tiny bit of coco and crack new seeds…anyway have u ever mixed cheap soil with coco and had problems

One day, I wanna try oxygenating the roots. I’m really curious how that would turn out. Actually, I bet they’ve done a study on that.

Oh interesting, for certain hydroponic systems, they can use oxygenated water to boost growth. Looks like it’s been decently well studied and it’s shown to be pretty effective implants other than cannabis I’m not sure if it’s been tested in cannabis.

No I haven’t mixed anything with coco other than perlite. This is my first time using compost and rabbit poop.

I like the sound of rapid root cubes. Perhaps I’ll grab some. It looks like they’re actually popping tails out now. The first two I actually soaked in water initially. I actually switched to the paper towel for these 2 new seeds. And they’re not old so I don’t know why two of them wouldn’t have popped. And they’re Mephisto. So idk

Man  my soil is a bit too alive for my taste. I’m gonna leave them out in the sun to dry out for a few days. Im curious what kind of mushrooms these are

I really liked the idea of the rooting blocks.. so I researched a bit what was in them in a bit how to increase root growth. And it looks like it’s a combination of different hormones like auxins, some use rooting hormone, fulvic, humics, and fungi/bacteria. Soooo I just made my own. I soaked my last two seeds and some water. They both popped a little tiny tails so I stuck them inside my rooting mix. We will see how it plays out.

They are on a heating pad right now and they’re covered with a solo cup to ensure humidity stays high and as soon as they popped through the dirt, I’ll move them into their tents with the humidifier.

Checked on the seedlings and they look like they’re doing well. They will need to be moved into the light within the next day or so. I’m just curious what to do about the soil cause there was mushrooms growing out of it. It doesn’t look like I have enough time to let it all dry out… idk maybe I’ll just go hard on my own microbes to try and flush them out

For germinating I highly recommend Root Riot plugs in a humidity dome, not only do I have better germ rates but because it germs insode of the plug you don’t have to handle any deli ate taproots. They will grow out the bottom of plugs, but you don’t have to handle that part so less risk of transplant shock.

Yeah I really like the idea of those. I just can’t afford to buy them yet. so I bought some water soluble routing hormone apparently it works really well to increase root production.

So I went ahead and transplanted the seedlings. I used dissolvable Jiffy pot and I just cut the bottom off and cut two slits on the side and I was able to remove the potwithout disrupting the seedling. So now they are in their forever homes.

I was going to bake the coco to sterilize it, but I heard that degrades it so I just let it dry out as much as I could and then do it up really good with my tps bacteria fungi mix. Hopefully that will prevent any foreign fungi or bacteria from becoming the populous organism.

My coco is like 25% rabbit, droppings and carbon compost. There wasn’t really any leaves or fruits in the compost. It was just paper and carbon based materials.

I’m starting out with sensei grow 1mL/L; b52 1mL/L; cal/mag 1mL/L; bud candy 1mL/L.

Light is 13 DLI

Humidity is like 90% so the VPD is like zero I think. But it’s still in the cotyledon stage and I will drop it appropriately.

I’ve already started applying fulvic acid to the foliage. I’ve always had good results with it. If you haven’t tried it, you should. Cannabis, especially loves fulvic acid. It seems to allow a greater capacity for photosynthetic stress and just off the top of my head, I believe the research reflects that.

They are looking happy and healthy. Im adding 1L of 100ppm IBA-K (water soluble rooting hormone) to the roots. This is shown to increase root development.

Note to self: this mixture has too much nutrients to be feeding the seedlings anything but plain water. I should’ve figured 30% compost and rabbit droppings was gonna be nutritious enough. I backed off to plain water and I’ll keep it as such, most likely, until they tell me they need something.
