Canna's Grow Thread

So its the weekend so its time for a formal update.

Not much different than 6 days ago, but each plant is pushing out their first node after the first set of true leaves with the Blue Dream a little further ahead than the Trainwreck. One thing I will say is next grow I think I might just use half gallon or 1 gallon bags to start in. Watering these this is a straight pain in my ass. 2-3 times a day they get 6 to 8oz of water to just keep the medium from drying out. They are just too small, good thing in a week to 10 days they are going in their earthboxes.

Speaking of boxes, since I filled and hydrated mine and popped the mulch covers on, they have been blooming very well. Hard to see in the following pics but we have some “Santa’s Beard” mycillium sprawling out over the top and the boxes are still decently hydrated. Haven’t added water once since potting and covering, though today I am leaving the covers off for 2-4 hours. By the time the plants get in, the soil should be running on all cylinders. For today thats all I got, thanks for stopping by.

Edit: I forgot to mention Ive been giving the idea of throwing some red wigglers in each box some serious thought. Im thinking maybe 150-200 in each box as a starting population. Not 100% sold on this but Im seriously researching it. Maybe I could do 1 box to test but Im not sure I wanna add another variable just yet.

Oh I cant wait to see how your grow goes I love Barneys Farm stuff, I’ve got a Do-si-dos auto, Cookie casket, and Black cherry gushers photos I got and popped the black cherry gushers for my mother plant and its almost time to chop some clones off her. Lease is up in 2 months though and I might wait and move to a bigger place first. Idk might clone a couple and veg em and lst em and just move em with my bonsai trees when time. Waiting isnt my favorite but I can live vicariously through y’all.

You ever grown their Dr.grinspoon? Idk if you can find seeds for it through them directly anymore but I really loved that strain though it was a difficult grow to get right & took 4or5 tries.

Ya got a nice collection goin though! Im a bit envious tbh.

If you remember lmk how your pineapple express goes, I did the auto version by them and it was really small but very tasty

No but Ive seen some ginspoon crosses on here before. Its interesting but with my limited space I gotta make the most of it. I think after I pick up Mass Medical Star Pupil, and some Ace seeds Golden Tiger fems and regulars I might be done collecting genetics for a while. Im just waiting to find the golden tiger seeds and Im snagging all of em at the same time. I dont have a giant vault but at 2-3 plants every 6 months Ive got enough to last a decade at least.

Actually ill just put my whole list minus my autos. I really dont grow autos, all of mine are freebies from multiverse beans.

I actually have Ice Cream Haze and Slush Mint Cake from Dutch Passion (thanks to @Antonio) too but my Google list never updates right, and its missing Sugarcane V3 and Sugarcane V2Bx1 from In-House Genetics, thats what those “Special crosses/collaborations” is too. Those were my latest additions. Oh and crap it doesnt have my Humboldt Seed Co. Caramel Cream and Nutter Butter.

Took this pics earlier today after giving each 4oz of water.

Trainwreck is still lagging behind a bit but Blue Dream is just chugging along

Was at work today but its Saturday again so its time for an update.

So Im starting to realize I have 0 clue how to tell when my plants are ready for transplant, but I think I should probably wait 1 more week. Both plants are doing very well though. The Trainwreck is really starting to take off amd the Blue Dream is still chugging along.

Earth boxes are still cooking away. Soil is still plenty moist so besides that theres really nothing new to report.

Thought I would share a ppic update

Humidity has been a little wonky hence the twisted leaves on the Trainwreck but otherwise good.

Is there any reason you don’t start them in their final pot?

Getting a little dry huh?

Those are photos right? so you don’t have to worry about stunting them like autos

Yeah they are both photos. Humidity has been fluctuating a lot, last week it was in the 50s with Humidity in the 50s the past few days its been in the 80s with 80% humidity. Hard to manage the house when I had the heat on one day then had to turn on the ac.

And they are in nursery bags so I could develop a vigorous root ball. Transplant in the earth boxes and top water once or twice before switching to bottom watering. Didn’t wanna run the risk of drying out the bottoms of the earthboxes and going hydrophobic while in the seedling stage

Well my pump sprayer wand took a shit. It wasn’t leaking, but the connection from the handle to the wand itself was loose so I tightened it amd now it leaks like crazy. Im trying to find the exact replacement which is difficult, but I do still have the other pump sprayer I bought with a brass wand. So maybe I will just see if that connection has an o-ring, this one does not or its molded into the plastic itself…oh well I wont need it after transplanting but it makes watering the nursery bags way easier

Checked out the brass wand this morning, fittings are much larger. Gonna have to find an o-ring at the hardware store
