What is this green?

Hello folks. My mate sent me a pic of his seedling and i noticed the green stuff on perlite. Is it algie? Will it suffocate seedling. Or is it something else? His in coco and perlite.

It's algae.. Algae won't hurt the plants but it does attract fungus gnats and flies. It's probably from the water source that's being used

:yeahthat:. I would use some Styrofoam or something to keep the light from striking the surface of the pot. No light no algae.

Styrofoam sucks, but the idea to block the light is a great one. I guess one can use whatever one had available. Better to recycle than just dump it in the landfill I guess
