Diesel automatic grow - some sort of deficiency? Help needed!

Hey, total newbie here, first grow was going well until about a week and a half ago. Currently at the start of week 7, about 2+ weeks into proper flowering.The strain is royal queen seeds diesel automatic. Haven't tested soil or water PH or yet, have ordered stuff to do so though just to be sure that's not the issue. Medium is plant magic soil, using plant magic old timer organic nutes. Have been feeding weekly, initially think I gave her a little nute burn on the lower leaves, but reduced the dosage and that seems to have sorted that. Also just before this problem started I had some yellowing and dropping of the very bottom leaves, this was just as she went into flower and I read in a few places that this is fairly normal.

Anyway, now have the issues pictured here. It's only affecting about 4 or 5 of the fan leaves around the middle and lower top of the plant right now, but it does seem to be slowly worsening. The majority of the plant is looking healthy and buds are growing fine. Have just switched to the bloomfeed, wondering if this may have something to do with the problem? From looking at photos of other deficiencies I'm thinking this could be cal/mag possibly? Also all affected leaves have purpling/reddish stems. Any help is much appreciated!

Looks like it could be cal mag deficiency mate. I'm a noob but had the same problem u look to have.

http://www.growweedeasy.com/sites/growweedeasy.com/files/phosphorus-deficiency-bagseed-haze-sm.jpg It looks like phosphorous def,check this link.If you just started feeding flower nutes this should help this problem.Also start using cal/mag in a light dose with every feed.Cal/mag and phos are very important at flowering stage so try this and hopefully it will help.

I agree on the cal/mag. They are very common with autos around week 5 or so. I also see signs of a P deficiency. The red stems also indicate a lack of P. When coupled with the cal/mag, it's possible that you have a soil pH issue. When your pH isn't in the desired range you can experience nutrient lockout, where the plant is unable to uptake the nutrients properly. When you get your pH equipment you'll want to give them a pH balanced feed. Give enough so some runs out the bottom of the pot. Capture and test that as well. Let us know what the readings are.

Thought it had all been going a bit too smoothly for a first grow, have been looking up pics of deficiencies all week trying to figure out exactly what the problem is. I'll definitely get some cal/mag this week and put some in the next feed. Will check the ph of the water/feed and the runoff as soon as all the stuff turns up and report back, thanks again!

You may already know bro but check your new growth to see if your probs are sorted, the red stems etc wont recover.. as long as the new growth is nice and green n healthy your back on track.. just a mistake i made after having exactly the same probs as you so just a heads up in case you didnt know BTW welcome to the best auto site in the world.. im a noob but plenty really friendly top growers on here.. if they dont know it here.. they dont know it anywhere good luck with the grow man

Nice one man thanks for the heads up, didn't know that about the stems not recovering actually. Yeah seems to be a really good community on here, glad I found this site. Wasn't expecting so many replies so quickly, was starting to panic about the grow a little but not so worried now

Just a quick update, PH tester still hasn't turned up, but after doing more reading it seems it is most likely not PH as I'm in soil using organic nutes, which should apparently regulate it's own PH, still gonna test it when the damn thing actually turns up.

Right, anyway, problem has got MUCH worse, plant is looking pretty sick. Most leaves on the plant have dark brown spots showing and/or yellowing, the worst have curled right up and are almost totally brown. I ordered cal/mag last week, foolishy ordered the PM cal/mag which isn't organic, didn't realise this until after I had put some in the last feed, either way it didn't seem to help at all, so I have ordered some Equilibrium organic cal/mag which should arrive either tomorrow or thursday. I am starting to think this may all be down to the water in my area being very soft. Have another slightly younger plant (different strain) in the same tent which has been doing really well, although noticed today one or two leaves around the middle of the plant are starting to show faint spots and very subtle yellowing in places, guessing it's the same cal/mag deficiency starting to show itself, hopefully I can catch this one before it gets as bad as the other one. Oh well, it's all a learning process. On the upside the buds on the really ill plant are still growing in size and smell delicious, hopefully I'll get at least a bit of tasty smoke from it.

Okay, so finally have ph test kit, seems that maybe ph could be the issue. It's the first time I've used one of these kits with the drops, but it's saying my feed mix (which now also contains organic cal/mag as it also turned up today) is at 6.0, and it says my runoff is exactly the same, surely that's not good? Tested the plain tap water just for reference and that looks like it's at 7.0 or 8.0, it's hard to know when comparing to the chart. Not sure how accurate/reliable these drop testers are, but it's all I could afford right now. I'm guessing I want my ph around 6.5 rather 6.0, so I'll order some organic ph+to make sure I'm feeding with at least a ph of 6.5, weird that the ph is off when I'm using PM soil and organic nutes though.

Those test kits are good for a general reading but obviously not as accurate as a digital tester. I suspect your actual soil pH may be a bit lower. Even at 6.0. cal and mag are locked out and it's right on the edge of P and K also being locked out. I would suggest you up your feeds to around 7. That should move your soil pH up to the mid 6s. You may also want to consider mixing a bit of dolomite lime to the top layer of your soil. It will take a couple of weeks to become effective but will raise your soil pH. Baking soda can also be used to raise the pH of your feeds.

I checked the Plant Magic web site and they don't state the pH of their soil or if they have added any lime to their mix. That's something you might want to check with them about. Judging from what I'm seeing with your grow I suspect it may be a little low to start with.
