Hello everyone

this is the first forum ive joined. after looking across many for the last few months i decided this is the most helpfull, at least to my self

i have a bit of growing experience with ok results and now im looking to become self sufficient and stay away from the black market etc

i use for recreational and medicinal reasons, namely pain relief and in previous times stress relief.

also just stoped smoking and started vaping. i really felt guilty toking away but the change has left me feeling a lot healthier and also a lot more open to other methods and ways to medicate.

So just starting up again im going for a small setup using hand fed coco and LED. I like coco as i like to keep an eye on them and give them much love but dont feel ready for hydo. plus we have terrible hard water! looking to get 3-6oz every 3 months for vaping cooking and potentially a little oil.

There are some awsome grows on here using many difderent techniques and you all seem very helpfull with information and opinions.

i have never grown auto before so i do have many questions. Seems the best option with time/yield/difficulty

the first being...... i am stuck on space.... Am i better off having with SOG or giving then space? i was thinking a 24"x24" for 1 large or 4 small plants or 18"x36" for 2 resonable plants???

Welcome to AFNlogo:styles rasta:. This forum was also my first :stylez rasta smoke: Enjoy the site and all the info..... This growmunity is filled with knowledgeable growers that wont hesitate to point you in the right direction with Autoflowers:smokebuds: I would give them a bit of space, but someone will chime in with a little more thoughts on the space for ya:thumbs: 2 plants sound good tho....

One Love and best of luck with your Auto adventure:High 5:..

Welcome 110%

Hi 110%

Welcome to AFN! ^_^
As far as your space is concerned, I work in a small space too! I prefer to give my girls a bit of room rather than trying to cram them in, It certainly makes things easier for me to keep an eye on them and train them a little. But as you say, lots of different methods and all valid if they get the results :)

I'll keep my eyes open for your grow journal, until then, let us know if you need any assistance around the forums and we'll be happy to help!

All the best
Blue ^_^

Welcome 110%

:styles rasta:

I would have to agree with Blue on this one.

but like told, many diferent ways and opinions.

short plants may benefit on SOG, but if they are tall, it wil be hard to get proper light at the bottom part of your bby`s.

let us know if you need any help getting around buddy, and we`l point you in the right directions :wiz:

enjoy your stay, and i`l see you around bud :smokebuds::peace:

Good morning 110%! Welcome to AFN!

I know it's very tempting to want to plant a ton of plants at once, but you'd probably be much better off just starting with a few. Rome wasn't built in a day, and growing awesome herb doesn't happen overnight. I made the mistake of germinating 27 seeds on my 3rd grow; I was sure I was going to continue with my low success of germination rate; but ended up with 100% (not 110%, but close enough haha :Stones slap: .) It ended up turning out pretty damn well in the end; ended up pulling a pound out of them and some small photo plants; but had I focused on even half or a quarter of those plants; I'm sure I could have grown some beautiful monster without half the work it takes to tend to 27 plants. Trust me; once you spend a few of your weekend nights sitting down in your tent water 20+ plants with prepared nutrient solutions and whatnot; you're going to see the DOWNSIDE to growing. I grew these in a 4 foot by 4 foot by 7 foot tent. I'll post you the link so you can take a gander and give yourself an idea of what a ton of plants look like crammed into a small space.

Remember too that your plants will only grow as big as the pot that you place them in. You might be growing two plants, but if you stick them in 5 gallon buckets; they are going to be a lot bigger than if you did a 1 gallon or 2 gallon pot. Do some searches around here on other peoples grow journals to get an idea of what size pots they are planting in (in the beginning of their journal,) then see how big they end up at the end of it. Should give you some good indication on how big these babies can get!

Highly (is that a pun?) recommend starting yourself a grow journal here as well; TONS of super intelligent and helpful people here that will help guide you to success! Ultimately you're the one in charge of your plants; but you will get every bit of information you could think of from here and there's always someone here to help trouble shoot!

Welcome to the community! :stylez rasta smoke:

thanks for the welcome guys!

Big question is then, is 18"x18" per plant going to be good?

As i said ita all about quality and a reasonable supppy for my self!

i must say looking at seymour buds grows really inspired me. technique wise itslow maintenance and high yield at its best!

so guys do you have any prefered strains?

It depends on the strain, the pheno that comes out in the strain, the size of the pot you plant them in, and a little bit of luck (and probably numerous other variables.)

I've got two Dutch Passion Think Different's coming; I've never grown them before but do a quick search on here and you'll see they grow to be monsters. There are dwarf and lowryder plants that grow short. There are super autos that grow very tall. I had some DNA 60 Day Wonders that didn't get past a foot or foot and a half tall. So you see; you can grow a lot of genetically SMALL plants; or a lot of very BIG plants

Are you thinking of building a space or getting a tent? Would recommend a tent for plethora of reasons; it's an incredibly controlled growing environment and far more newbie friendly that a DIY project (unless you're a DIY kind of guy.)

Do a search for strains on here that you are interested in. Chances are, someone's probably grown it and you can kind of gauge how big those plants are going to get. It's not 100% science doing it that way; but it's a great ball park to help you decide.

Quality comes with understanding and practice. You can read these forums 24 hours a day; read every book there is, but until you ACTUALLY tackle this monster yourself; it's just textbook knowledge. There is NO substitute for field experience. Be humble about your grow; you might end up growing some big airy, fluffly popcorn buds your first time (I know I did.) You might get attacked by spider mites and have to chop early your first crop (I know I did.) You might go "gee, that was several months wasted down the crapper." I know I did. But then I told myself there were no such things as failures but simply ways of finding out what works and what doesn't work.

Every seed you plant, every growing cycle you complete, you're that much further along in your quest to be where you want to be. You know what you want out of this already; so my advice is don't half ass it; be patient, be willing to learn, and most importantly, be willing to roll with the punches! Growing pot is like buying a disposable camera at the store; anyone can take a picture with it, but it takes a great photographer to really know what they are doing. Make sense? I'm excited for you :D:

this is true. and theres no substitute for experience.

Im actually not going to use a tent, only reason being there not very stealthy. i will be building a milar lined MDF cabinet which will double up as a tv stand.

height may be an issue with the LED setup so i want to start off with t

he shorter strains

Welcome mate, sounds like you`ve got a plan :High 5: Hope it goes all good! :peace:
