I want to start a log of my grow. Im currently running mephisto appletizer in 5 gallon autopots in 70/30 coco/perlite with airdomes.

Im running ac infinity 4x2 with an additional mars hydro ts1000 and 50w vivosun side lights. 400 watts total.

Nute solution has been at 1100 for a week and the plants are loving it. So a couple days ago i bumped it up to 1400ppm. They might be unhappy with 1400, im monitoring them. Tomorrow ill bump down to 1300 unless they look really happy. If very unhappy ill go back down to 1100.

Running general hydroponics flora grow, micro, calmag, and fulvic acid. Plus every night as the lights turn off i spray them with 300ppm fulvic acid spray. Once its apparent its entering flowering ill drop the flora grow for glora bloom.

20/4 lighing schedule

Im week 5 or so and they are looking fairly large

. Hasnt started to put mass on flowers.

I was pondering on what technique to use for lst. I decided to experiment and it panned out i think. I let the primary and secondary growths grow, but i pulled off the tertiary growths until it was the right size. This minimized waste and created an even canopy where i leaf tucked successfully. Ill barely need to lollipop anything.

Its my first grow but i think i researched well enough based on the results; however, i did stunt one of the plants. I heard roots break when i transplanted it. Never recovered.

The other mistake i made was not leaf tucking quickly enough in one of the plants, this crested a bit of apical dominance.

Ill grab pictures.

Welcome to AFN and awesome job so far! Yes, seedling roots can be brittle/delicate! I try to avoid that by using Root Riot plugs to germinate in, you never have to handle the seed after it sprouts and the first roots are protected inside the plug so cant be harmed when the sprout is transplanted. That early first week to 2weeks with autos is the most sensitive to stunting. Just not having temps and humidity dialed can stunt them at this point. Your best weapon in the garden is going to be knowledge so read read read! And if you have any questions on the way dont hesitate to ask! Thats what this place is for! Also check out Live Stoner Chat thread, lots of amazing growers there all the time willing to help out. I grew an Appletizer last outdoor winter season, fire genetics for sure!!! Cant wait to run it indoors! Good luck on your first round!!! Autoflowers are really quite amazing! Also this is possibly the best canna site online, dont forget to explore. There are some serious growers here doing big things!

We all know the Auto flowers have a built-in clock. And we all know that we want to waste the least amount possible. But then I see people allowing their plants to grow tertiary growths all the way until theyre branches. And then when they lollipop, the growers pull all these extra growths off that they allowed to happen. It doesn’t make any sense to me.

Then you end up with all kinds of different branch sizes with different distances from the light. This means smaller colas.

Every bit of foliage that you pull off was carbon that could’ve been brought elsewhere to the plant. So then after the plant has put tons of resources into building these branches, people go and pull them off. And if their photoperiod i get it they’ll recover.

So my thought was to just remove the tertiary growths right until the plant was gonna go into flower that way you could let the primary stock grow up, and the secondary branches out without any waste, then right before flower, you let the tertiary growth grow, and it doubles or quadruples is the number of flowering sites that you have. And that’s only with one or two node. I already see one or two extra nodes but I wouldn’t be surprised if they doubled again before truly flowering. And all of them are exposed to the light at the top.

So right now, I’ve got about 24 branches on each plant. all of which are doubling or quadrupling as we speak. And all of these branches are big thick honkers exposed to light at the top of the canopy.

Certain types of stress, and even certain substrates like rockwool and sometimes coco can extend veg and flower along with schwazzing(intense defoliation at critical points) can extend those periods quite substantially and certain training techniques encourage that type of growth!

Oh yeah I really screwed up on them. Since it was my first grow, I didn’t understand the importance of humidity for seedlings, and it’s naturally 20% humidity here. They were unhappy about that so I got a humidifier. Then on one morning, I woke up to the floor being 57° and they were on the floor so I had to get a heat mat. And at one point, I tried to put a drop of fulvic acid into the peat pellet but i spilled and burned them, so i flushed. But I was using tapwater at that point. And they were unhappy about that so I hooked up my RO system.

actually pretty fortunate that the two of them didn’t stunt like the third.

Thank you for your wisdom. If you see any other pointers or mistakes that I’m making feel free to point them out.

THATS WHAT I THOUGHT!! I thought it was very weird that I’m not in the flower yet. And I was wondering, if pulling the tertiary growth off prevent prevented it from getting into flower. It looks like that could’ve been the case.

I did some LST on the runt to open the canopy. She looks unhappy.

Looks like i over watered here? I put PH’d RO water directly in the autopot tray. I also turned off the nutes. Ill let it sit a day or so before turning on

You never want to put plain water in coco. Always balanced nutrients. What will happen is the plants will drink all the calcium from the coco, you'll never get it back, and you'll be chasing the imbalance the whole grow. Look into cation exchange coco
