Hey Folks,

well to be honest I think I messed up my first time setup caused by first ordering seeds between a lot of work in the office I started to get some informations on how to do this and that. I must say i found this forum pretty late in my preperation phase what is really a shame because I love this guys here and it seems a pretty trustworthy source of information to me personally. So while digging deeper and deeper into nearly any stage of the growing i already got confused by stuff like nutrients (thanks god I left this topic for the time while I start the germination) I made already a mistake that I got the biobizz allmix from my local growshop. Now they don't have any light mix and i would have to wait for another 2+ weeks which I want to evade, because I'm now on vacation and have a lot of time for the next 3 weeks to invest in the "hardest" part of the growing. I'm btw in Germany.
My setup right now for outdoor:
  • Cherry Pie Auto from Royal Queen Seeds (a few of them and I'll leave also some for my Indoor project I want to invest in time by time)
  • Criticals from Royal Queen Seeds as freebies
  • Some 11L and some 14L fabric pots
  • PH/Temp soil messure device
  • BioBizz Allmix 50L
  • 2L perlite
What I really need to know is which process for germination you guys would recommend me. I've of course read the nice guide from @Marshydro and I also found a really nice post (can't find it right now) from another cool dude who presented a method with 2 plastic cups where one goes into the other).
Now while the first is about growing directly in the final pot (where I'd have to use the BioBizz Allmix which seems to be everything else than good for this method), I could use the 2nd method with perlite maybe if this is possible? Another idea was to mix the BioBizz with some extra perlite and maybe some extra on the bottom of the pot, could this help me to reduce the overheat problem caused by the allmix ? Anything else you could suggest me to get my babies up? I'm aware of how carefully I've to transplant btw.
The next thing is: How are you guys preparing your allmix? Like biobuzz recommendation or anything different?
And last but not least where I need help is LST. I'm planing to try it for the first time on only one plant, you guys think it will be too overwhelming for me or just give it a try?

For anything else I could get trouble with, I'lll ask it later in the process.
Thanks for your time.

Alright, just one thing changed as I just got back: I got a 20L bag of organic soil. So was thinking to use that for the germination and propably for the early stages also:

Germination:
50% organic soil with 50% perlite maybe? or better 70/30 ? So I can go for the straight in the pot method.
Week 1-2:
I was thinking about a mix of 60% organic soil, 30% perlite, 10% biobizz allmix

And after that (depending how it goes) I could switch to like 10% perlite 90% allmix ?

Just an idea.

happy growing!

Tachens, the best method of germination I've found are eazyPlugs. They are little coco cubes, prefertilized and well buffered. Honestly I love these things, and here's why they would be great for your situation: they also have a bigger cube you can stick the small one into. also fertilized. With both of those you can cover the first 10 days of your plant's growth. Tütensuppenlösung: Just add water. https://www.eazyplug.nl/how-to-use/
These guys should pay me for the advertisement :D

LST is nice, it's easy and it'll only cost you some wire. For outside plants not necessary, for indoor it's advisable if you don't do a sog setup. buuuuut the first few grows you should get to know the plants in general and your strains in particular.

Hey tachens :D
Thank you for your reply.
Well I've read also some things about that eazyPlugs. Afaik they should be a good solution for that. I'll keep that in mind for my next one.
I'll most probably start in a few hours already and I think I should give another method where I already have all the things I need in front of me. I'm pretty sure to make mistakes is the best way to learn :) But as I mentioned before I won't go for all seeds I've right now and keep a few for another try where I'll get the light mix and I'll give the "eazyPlug"method a try.

Well I think for outdoor it depends on the room you have there. My balcony for example isn't neither big neither small. I'll watch how it's going and if I get through germination and transplanting, I should at least give it a try for learning and hopefully even for greater yield..

Thank you and kind regards.

eazyplugs are nice - germination means first days of grow or bean cracking? soakt them until they sink in a cup of water with a drop of rizotonic if avail. after they sank, put them in some pads until you see sprouting or put them directly into soil/eazyplug.
You will learn about soil and nutes as you go. 1/3 perlite is ok and never go to wet. We will be here if you need help. And if you got a sick plant post it to the infirmary.
I'd just not lst in the beginning, just top one before day 20 keeping 4 nodes...depending on the size you want/can handle.
Another german...wir werden mehr :-)
Have fun!

I think both. Until the the sproud is about ~10cm.

That's an interesting way, I haven't heard about before (the soaking)

Alright, will do that definitely.

Yea I was also thinking about topping, but many people say it's absolutley not for beginners. Just one thing I'm curious about: Is it nessecery to top in a 45° angle? Or is that bro sience?
Another german...wir werden mehr :)
Have fun!
Haha nice to hear that. Thank you very much and have a great grow =)

warte, was?!

Btw this is the dutch passion germination guide I was talking about from the @Marshydro thread:
Soil Germination Method in 8 steps
And this is the actual thread:
"BRUSH"Strategy: 5 Tricks About Germination Will Greatly Increase Your Rate

Hello ^_^

You could try lightmix instead next time. I find it's much kinder to the seedling, can last easilty 20 days without needing nutes, at which time if you've gently built up the watering from when it sprouted, the leaves should mostly be at the sides of your pot, and then you consider the roots to be set down (which is more important to know if you're using a passive self watering system like an autopot), and can give them a decent watering.

Biobizz users are mostly UK (i see you're not! lol) so if you've not looked into the autopot self watering system and want an easy life - do it! :D

Also recommend for ease of use, Canna Vega for veg nutes and Canna Flores for flower nutes

:d5:

Germinations .... it's all about heat and moisture. if your cab or tent or whatever is 80f and you can keep the soil moist (not wet or sodden) with a light spray on top once or twice a day, stick a clear pastic cup over it and in 3-7 days it;ll pop if its going to. (they mostly do)
Outdoors - I wouldnt have a clue.

Bury it only a little fingernail deep and lightly cover it before spraying and putting a clear plastic cup on top (which you could spray the insides of to keep a moisture dome)

Happy Growing! :d5:

Yes right, like I mentioned in the first post if this thread, I messed it up with buying the allmix. Just after I got more informed about soils, I went straight up to my local grow store and they hadn't any lightmix anymore :( The next time they get it, will be in 2 weeks and I already reserved a 50L bag (thats also one of the reasons I won't go for all my seeds now, just maybe 2-3). I will also order some other seeds meanwhile, to get a great mix and make some expierence with different genetics). I'll also give autopot a try as many of these guys here seems to use it with great achievements.

I'm right now not that deep in the nutes topic as I already learned a lot of things in just a week and the nutes where just too overwhelming for me right now. But meanwhile the process of germination goes on, I'll velve deeper into nutes and I'm pretty sure I'll have a lot of questions left :)

Thank you for your time mate,
I'll keep an eye on all of those stuff. Even if people suggests different methods, I get a better understanding about the backgrounds of the theories behind it.

Happy Growing and thanks for your time.
