Hi,

I'm a newbie grower from France, long time lover of the plant.
I decided to start my first run, so I bought a small tent 80x80x180 cm, a Lumatek ATTIS 200W, fans, carbon filter, 11L pots, lightmix from biobizz.
A friend of mine offered me some seeds from RQS, so I bought their nuts too.

I tried to understand what I read online, mainly french forums, but in my mind a lot of infos were quite contradictory, so I jumped in and start the germination from a small propagator.
Young plants came out nicely and after some time I started some lst (but I didn't know exactly how to do this)...

Plants are royal dwarf, royal jack, royal ak and amnesia haze, all autos ; what I didn't realize is that some of them are sativa dominant, so I experienced some trouble regarding the height.
I really wish I knew AFN since the beginning, but I do now, really glad to learn a lot of things which I will apply for my next grow.

Overall I'm happy to not have kill them !

I've read a big thread by autobeast, where I learned that it was possible to defoliate autos. I did that and remove some leaves that were blocking light.

What do you think about them, and in your opinion, what could I do to improve their growth ?

Thank you for reading me !

So here are some pictures of my girls :

Hi, and welcome to AFN. As you might have already noticed, this is a friendly and helpful place where you can get all the advice you might need.

Your plants look very healthy to my relatively inexpert eyes. The Amnesia Haze looks to be a challenge height wise, but you are working on it. You should look up what you can find about super cropping if you have not already done so, using that technique might help if the girl insists on getting out of control.

As to defoliating, there is a lot of argument about how good an idea it is. I do it only to make sure I get enough air circulation through the canopy, I don't do it to remove shade from the lower canopy/bud sites. But I am new at this game, and some more experienced growers would disagree with my approach. In any case, as long as your plants are healthy and you don't overdo it, you are unlikely to cause serious problems. If it were me, I would not remove any leaves from your plants right now, the canopy is nice and open, so air circulation should not be an issue as long as you have a circulation fan or two going.

There are lots of great growers here, so any time you have questions about what to do, or contrary advice you have run into, just give us a shout and someone will try to help. :goodluck: :pighug:

Thank you @Olderfart for the welcome :)
As you say there is a very nice friendly atmosphere around here, contrary to some other forums I visited...

I'm going to read about super cropping, though I have an idea of what it is ; But I'm a little scared about it, wouldn't this stunt the plant at this stage ?

Apart controlling RH now that all 4 plants have entered flowering, is there anything I can do to improve their growth ?

Have a good day,

I am not your best bet for information as I am relatively new to this mischief.

However, I would say at this point keep doing what you are doing. I see no significant issues with your plants at all other than growth form being a bit stretchy with the Amnesia girl, and there is not much you can do about that other than supercropping her if needed. My limited experience with supercropping is that healthy plants seem to take it in stride remarkably well. The main risk seems to be that if you do not soften the bend point enough before training, you can break the stem. However, that outcome might not do as much damage as you think, because it cures the height issue, and allow adjustment of your lights to the lower parts of the canopy.

As to the nute picture, I would say that your leaves look about as dark green as they should be, so keep an eye on those leaf tips, and if they show lightening color or browning, back off on the nutes ~10% or so immediately. If you have not done so already, have a look at @Mañ'O'Green's sticky on nutrients. The key takeaway is that you need to keep the nutes balanced, and not over do them. Be careful with the extras like CalMag or blossom boosters - they regularly cause issues in grows here by throwing nute balance out of whack. As a new grower, you will be better off just sticking with the nute package you are using. If the package includes moving to a more flowering oriented mix as part of the recommended process, by all means follow the recommendations with whatever adjustments of dosage you need to do to avoid issues, but don't add other stuff to your mix in order to further enhance results. You are more likely to screw things up than improve your bud. I don't have a link to MOG's sticky handy, but if MOG has a look here, I am sure that he can point you to it.

Good luck with the grow mate, you are doing really well for a new grower. :goodluck: :pighug:

Thank you for the kind words :)

Oh ok, was looking at your post count and thought "wow that is a big amount of messages" !
Were you into photos ?

As you can see on the picture, I did some cropping to the Amnesia one, but it was not on purpose lol !
I wanted to gently bend her down, so I try to do that, only to feel her kind of "melt" under my fingers... I thought "shit, I'm screwing things up", and tried to support her with a stick. My surprise was great to see that she recovered very fast !
Incredible plant ^^

As for the nutes, yes I follow exactly the schedule provided by RQS.
Just added some granules to the light mix and a few grammes of mycorrhiza under the baby plant.
Plain water and then 1/2 dose of veg nute ; now that they all switched to flowering I change the nute accordingly.
Nothing else added, I'm glad it works so well because frankly, I had no idea about what to do exactly lol.

Nope, never grown a photo, and not likely to any time soon. Too many great auto strains available, and when growing multiple strains, mixing photos and autos is a poor option. My grows are too small to get that complicated. Also, where I live, there is next to zero chance of ever getting a photo to maturity outdoors, even autos are a challenge to get harvested before weather becomes too wet and cold. As to the number of posts, I am not sure that is something I can be proud of - growing and yacking about it can be bit of a rabbit hole, even if a friendly one on this forum. Be warned.

Anyway, back to your grow, you are doing really well mate, and if you stick to what you are doing, you are going to end up with some really nice bud. Just watch those leaf tips, I think you are pushing them as hard as you want to. :pighug:

Understood !

One thing I noticed : the AK girl is always drooping a little at the end of the light cycle.
It's odd because she recovers during night.
I know it's not a watering problem because I always pay attention to the dryness of the soil before watering.
Nothing alarming in my opinion, she's getting water and nute tonight anyway :)

One other thing : The dwarf plant stands very well to her name ! she's staying very very small, with a good amount of flowers.
Maybe it's because of her size, but she drinks a lot more slower than the other 3... that makes sense I think if I consider the stretch of the amnesia one for example. Here again, no problem, just a little more work haha !

Oh I have a question regarding my next grow : in your opinion what strains are staying small enough to fit my 80x80x180 tent, apart from the dwarf one ?
My criteria are high level of THC, fruity and citrus flavor, fast grow ^^

Thanks
