Problem: Yellow/light green leaves.

Medium/grow method: Sprouted rapid rooters. Transplated in Mother Earth 70/30 coco/perlite mix as soon as the taproot left the rapid rooter.

Feed and supplements used: Used 1/8 strength Botanicare Pure Blend Grow 3-2-4 to precharge each planting pot with 2L of light solution 2 days prior to transpanting. Starter watering with a little bloom city 2-0-0 cal-mag 2 days ago. No real change.

Water source: RO water, pH 6, TDS of plain water is like 3-5 PPM.

Strain and age – 3X Auto Gelato, 1x Dwarf Low Flyer (QCS) - sprouted on 9/14, so around 15 days old.

Climate: Initially used a humidity dome, but may have overheated the seedlings with a heat pad. They emerged and were pale yellow. Removed the heat pad and they went to healthy green in a day. Room temp was 85F day and 78F night for first week and a half. I have since decreased it to 80F day and 74F night.

Light used: LED light (Mars FC-E6500), started at 300PPFD, one stretched so increased to 370 PPFD using IPAD app. 2 days ago I went back down to around 300.

-Additional info: Well, I’m not sure if I screwed these plants over initially by starting them out with an overheating situation. Also took their humidity dome away after transplanting and they stayed at around 50% humidity for a few days until I put in a humidifier to keep things around 65%. Could also be the mother earth coco mix I used. Most users rave about it, a few others complained about dead seedlings.

I think my best bet may be to scrap this grow, thoroughly rinse/buffer the coco, and raise the seedlings in smaller pots for the first 2 weeks at least before transplanting. I “self diagnosed” as a nitrogen deficiency, so I’m desperately added 1.5ml cal mag/gallon to the water. I have not tested the runoff because I’m using GH drops and it isn’t easy to grab a sample for the tube.

Was all excited too, as this was going to be my first autopot grow…not going well. Soil was ridiculously more forgiving to a new guy.

@GreenBasterd :welcome:Welcome to AFN:welcome:They look like they are starving to me. Coco is hydro which means you always fertigate. I would use 7ml/Gal. or about 350 PPM of that Botanicare Pure Blend Pro. Add 50 PPM Cal-Mag with the RO water or just blend your tap water in to about 80 PPM ASAP

How long ago did you transplant?

Besides the pre-charge and cal-mag, have you give it any other feed (either before or after transplanting)?
Thanks everyone.

Yes, that is correct. Haven't fed them anything. I thought they did not need anything for the 1st 2 weeks, and after that I was planning to go with 1/8th strength as recommended by Fastbuds for autos. I take it they're gonna want more than that...but I would have thought 7ml/gal is a lot. Sprouted 9/8, transplanted on 9/14.

Just checked in on them, and it appears the cal mag helped. Some green is returning, though I think growth was badly stunted.

Added 7ml grow nutes to about 1.5 gals, cal mag was already in it, pH'd to 6, and watered.

EDIT: Checked in this AM after watering last night and they are all notably greener. Thanks fellas.

I guess 420fastbuds is wrong on the 1/8th nutrients for autoflowers.

Hey guys need some opinions on these blueberry autos from green choice . They’re 11 days old and are starting to get a bright greenish yellow tint and the back one is drooping pretty heavy any ideas ?

Sounds like you are having a similar issue. I'd fill out the form and start a fresh thread. Also, the advice in this thread appears to be working. Mine are returning to green.

The initial bit of green returning was likely from the nitrogen in the cal-mag.

The 1/8, 1/4, etc, strength recommendation guidelines are too vague. It really depends on the manufacturer. Just looks at the ppms for FF and GH feedcharts for example. Very different. Half strength might work with one nute line up, but be totally wrong for another.

The safest way to scale nutes for autos is by ppm/EC.

Happy growing :D

Thanks brother! Did what was recommended above. 50 PPM of calmag, and 350 of botanicare grow. Diluting it a bit to start and then will give them full strength in a few days. It's cool as hell to see them popping back to life. Learned something. Light nutes by week 2 then increase slowly. Thanks again to all the folks who responded here. I can see how this is a bit of science mixed with art.
