Hi everyone,

Has anyone ever seen white fungus on a germinating seed? I was quite surprised by this:

What should I do? Plant as usual or is this bound to have problems down the line?

I do not know whether this is no problem at all, or whether it will severely affect the plant or even if it will contaminate my entire grow room! What are your thoughts about this?

I don't see any fungus..

Wow, not seen that before. Personally I'd still use the seed & keep it in quarantine - quite topical. If you don't have that option, or are risking other plants, then get rid.

Of you zoom in on the pic, there several of this almost trichome looking fungus. Like white stems and small balls.
Oh.. Ok. I see them now.. I was looking on the tap root..

Those are called seed hairs.. Similar to trichomes.. It doesn't happen often, but it happens.. It's not a fungus.. It's cellulose. No reason to panic or toss it.. You can Google seed hairs and read up on it if you want...

Dark background would help show up better ..... Learned something new!

Oh wow! I googled a lot and did not find anything similar. Thanks a lot for your knowledge! :worship:Because I have only seen your post now I have started another seed. Fortunately planted that one as well! :pass:
