I bought a vertical press IMG_6696.jpg for my soon to arrive slug33, while I was waiting I thought I'd see if I could do an improvement on the hair dryer technique so I found a flat steel bar 40mm x 16mm and cut two 105mm lengths, the same as the vise plates. So I pressed a 1/2g ball of weed into a tight ball and put it in position IMG_6701.jpg I ended up heating one side for about 4 minutes before it became too hot to touch on the other end. IMG_6706.jpg Anyway long story short it was not encouraging, the bars are too big so I don't really get enough pressure, but none of this matters because while it did not work very well IMG_6705.jpg as far as rosin extraction goes, I did end up with a product that seemed pretty good. IMG_6715.jpg I cut it up and vaped it and it was a lot stronger like this, turns out that it's easy to load more than you think. I did lose some rosin because I was trying to extract it. So...

I thought I'd make some more of these rosin chip goodies and see if I imagined the improved psychotropic experience or not, and this time I'd press it a bit less deliberately to not let any rosin out. So I moulded about 2g IMG_6745.jpg and put the roll in between some parchment. I heated the bars in boiling water and put the tube of weed in the parchment in-between the bars and put all that in the jaws of the vise, and gave it a press for about a minute, pretty flat about half a millimetre but no resin came out, which is what I wanted.IMG_6746.jpg. It's like a beef jerky but it's weed, a weed jerky. Anyhoo, it smells delicious, and it's shiny and it seems that the rosin has been spread evenly throughout the product. I cut it into strips and then into squares and cut any bigger bits up.IMG_6750.jpg This stuff is killer in a vape, you need to weigh it because .25g of this hardly looks like anything in a vapexhale basket whereas that much weed would fill it up. This seems to work exceedingly well much less harsh at a higher temperature and a heavier hit. Plus if you want you can put quite a lot in for an extra heavy hit. It seems that because the rosin is spread through and soaked up by the lesser quality bits of the plant, effectively it all becomes the same quality, and each chip has a large surface area and each one is soaked with rosin. It seems to work really well to vape, also because it allows lots of air into the basket too and the little chips can fly around like in a tumble dryer tumbling those little thc molecules right into your brain buds.

If I lived in California I'd make this as an artisanal product.
