Ok so I have been growing for a while and one thing I cannot figure out is when an auto will be done .

Sooo these are my questions

1. After showing pistils how long before finishing . Or per strain info.
2. Does temperature affect how long before flower is initiated.
3. Most my autos have shown pistils at 30 to 35 days .

The reason I ask is because I had some take way more than the 7 or 8 weeks the breeder estimates. More like 11 in some cases or more and they are far from huge autos.

Breeders often shade the truth about seed to harvest times. Some give FLOWER times, and you can add 3 or 4 weeks to that.
12-14 weeks is typical for autos.
You can judge when to harvest as if they were photos.

Ok so tell Me if i am wrong to think that in that case the times given are not including the growth before pistils. So if they say 8 weeks and she starts flower at 21 days. 11 weeks total 8 weeks ofbflowering .

So in effect like photoperiods with a 3 week veg .

All just my experience, from my own observations.
1. - Per the strain write up but take it with a grain of salt. I have had many plants finish right on que with breeder quoted times, but then certain strains seem to take far longer than others. Its funny Dutch Passion autos for me have finished right on que with quoted times, with the exception of the auto ultimate which goes 100 days.(but again fairly on que to many indoor grows of the AU i have watched)
2. - Again just my experience but yes. Plants effected by cold temps certainly do seem to be delayed, especially plants hit by extended cold durations in early preflower.
3. - Thats why they are going such a long time!! 30-35 days to show first signs is going long!! Something I have noticed that is a general trend. As you know i grow autos in full sun and also in a location that only gets 8 hours of direct sun that tapers down to less than 5-6 by harvest(often getting shaded out by close proximity photos). All of these autos take longer than breeder quoted times. I have no logical explanation, but for some reason autos(all strains) take longer to finish than those in 14+ hours of direct sun daily.

Yeah you are right to a point, with alot of breeders and certain strains that is exactly the case. Though there is also other factors in play. Like I said I have had many plants finish right on que to breeders times(counting day 1 as the day I see the plant breaking through the soils surface and harvesting at 10-20% amber).

One part that is holding you back is the initial preflower isandgrower....most will show signs at 15-21 days, but yours are taking a full extra week + to get mature enough to preflower.

Are you....hitting full sun dawn until dusk? How is your early stage growth? Nice healthy plants? Got some pics of plants at day 10 20 and 30?
Honestly lately it has been indoors under led but I admit air circulation is a little fan . It is in a spare bedroom . Outside I do not get to check them often and aphids are a mess hahah.
I will try a few soon outdoors but due to shortage of autos in my seedstash I haven't tried yet . I do move them outside occasionally. Have to try one outdoors again.

I am gonna review your thread and maybe I can make some worthy suggestions. I always say in inch a day over the first 30 days, and you will be hitting some serious bounty(using the largest strains of course). If you can hit 24-30" plants in 30 days and preflower is starting at 30 days you will have monsters by the end.
