Good Afternoon, well after several months of reading posts, I am ready to take the plunge. I have a DG soaking in 80 degreeF water, going to go into a DVD case by 9pmest tonight. I had read that some have suggested "precharging" their final pot to make it more condusive to seedlings. My 3gal airpot has two layers of soil; bottom layer a amended soil with EWC and GBD's SS mix with some added perlite, and the top layer is strictly the EWC amended soil and perlite.

My question is that if I water the pot is preparation for the seedling in several days, does the water need to be PH'ed to 6.5-6.8 prior to wettting the pot? I always thought that soil would buffer the ph of water, so with my photo's I have never worried about the ph of water I was using.

My second question is what (if any) additional amendments need to be added to the water in the 1rst 4 weeks? I plan on using GDB's SS mix, and mammoth p and Recharge + throughout the entire grow. If they show signs of slight deficiency, I planned on using some Mother Earth Meal Mix Bloom to boost them near the end.
Amazon product ASIN B01LZFTTV3.

Any help or criticism eagerly accepted. Thanks!

Sounds like a good plan.

As for ph, if you can get it to the 6.5 range, why not? But yeah, the soil should buffer it. My tap water comes out 8.5 or higher, I deffo would adjust my tap water. So I use RO water, 6.5 ph out the spigot, And no unwanted fluoride, chlorine, or heavy metals.

I would have amended in the bloom nutes into the bottom of your pot so the nutes could be available later on in the grow, not sure how effective that nute will be, planning on a top dressing later if needed?
Anyways, subbed up. :pop:

I thought the mix of the bloom nutes and GBD's SS mix would be too much. I was planning on scratching it (organic bloom nutes) in to the top several inches of soil and then watering it in later on in flower. As for the Mammoth P and recharge, my plan was to follow the Mammoth P schedule after week 2, and recharge + once a week with the watering. Flying blind here as this is all new (AF as opposed to Photo's), but at least I am flying!

Thanks @Roasty McToasty for the input!

Well with any luck the recharge, mammoth p , and water will be all you need. Get ready for a frost fairy to visit your garden in 4-6 weeks. DG is ridiculous with the trichs.

The DG went from shotglass of water, into paper towel at 430p on 2/11/2018. This morning at 1000am (2/12/2018), there is a small tail starting to peek out. I must say this is good seed vigor. Will wait for tail to get to ~1/2", ten plant into solo cup for 7-10 days before planting in final container 3 Gallon airpot. Added second 3500k autocob to cabinet. Had one in there prior to today, and a bunch of photo's happily vegging. Still need to work out the ventilation and filter, but I have some time before that is needed.

I do that for my coco grows. Don't think I did that at all when I was in soil. I used Ocean Forest and that is a hot soil. I watered the soil pot to some run off, then 5-6 hours later I drop the germed seeds in.

Yes, this what I did as well, for the same reason. I watered the pot about 24 hours before placing the sprouted seed in the soil. Also wanted to warm the soil, since the cabinet had been at 18/6, and nighttime temps in the cab were getting to 60dgf. Changed timer to 24/0, lowered the autocob, and also put a 40 watt CFL in there to bring temp in the cabinet to 80dgf.

Let's call today Day 1 for my Double Grape. Gave her a bit of help last night shedding her shell membrane, and was rewarded this morning with her spreading her cotyledons. Here we go!!
