The women on one side of my family are predisposed to get cancer of the "gut sack"...I can't remember the name of it.
It's a rare genetic form of cancer that rears it's head once every other generation in my family.
Two of my uncles wound up with prostate and bladder cancer due to working at the Dow chemical plant around the same time the real life events that inspired the movie Erin Brockovich were happening. Exposure to "D4" got them, but DOW had to pay my aunts and cousins a gratuitious amount of money.

When it comes to Canadians having a higher chance of certain diseases and illnesses... Look at the airflow over the USA... You can thank California, Ohio, Michigan, and Pennsylvania for it. Every major factory sits in an area that's directly under the jet stream or other major wind path that flows into Canada.

"Modern" diseases like Celiac's, To me, Are a result of generations and generations of polluting our own food. Wheat gluten is used in almost everything, even meat. Of course people are getting sick from it now. Just like the people who grew up eating and still eat cheap, harshly processed meats like ham. Nitrites and nitrates aren't good for your body and will cause issues over time.

You said it... Living in the Mid Ohio Valley we're in the thick of it! DuPont, Kratom, Etc... We just had the biggest chemical fire in the history of the US let alone WV that burned for nearly 3 weeks and it barely made the news out of the county.

I argue constantly with locals here. If you don't love the plants or oil and gas you're a "tree hugger" or you need to "walk your ass if you don't support oil and gas"

All they care about is fucking money. The plants come in and "bring jobs" and that's all they give a fuck about. Then years later they are crying around a hospital bed because their 3 yr old grandkid is dying from a rare form of cancer. And they don't see the connection... It's SICK

then I get the "well this area would be a ghost town... You weren't here for the haydays"

Oh right. You got to enjoy the benefits of a plant job 30 years ago and now we get the benefits of rare diseases.

West Virginia has been raped and abused for it's natural resources since before the civil war and the majority don't really give a fuck as long as they have jobs.

I mean we got one billionaire in the whole state and they vote him in as governor! If that doesn't tell you something about the people here idk what does. The problem and resolution resides within US. Not the big corporations. And unfortunately most people don't get that. All they care about is a paycheck.

It's a damn crime how so many are convinced that the dollar comes first.
