I think for me it's an age thing. I'm just at that point in my life where I no longer give two shits what anyone else thinks or wants. I've had to see, hear, smell, and touch stuff no human should have to, and then be expected to listen to trivial BS spewing from some bloviator. Ain't happening. It's just easier and makes me happier to isolate from them than to try and ignore 'em.

I think you hit the nail on the head, bro! If more of us just accepted our reality....and did the things that make us happy, even if that means holing up on a farm and living YOUR life, at YOUR pace! I've known too many people that lived in the hole of depression because they felt bad they couldn't make it day in and day out in society.....When you bring up something like this, they look at you like your crazy!!!! The time and place I grew up in, this was somewhat of a dream for people. Now everyone is obsessed with a new smart phone, and their fucking facebook account. They don't understand the great personal satisfaction that can be had working a garden, and taking care of animals.....generally communing with nature.

Uhhh, don't take this the wrong way but...phuk ewe. I'm too old to put up with weather any colder than zone 7. Now if y'all really want commune living there is plenty of isolated mountain top land where it's warm 9mos of the year within a few hours of me. Saw one parcel with a lake, and the lake had a cave entrance opening on an acre cave. Real prepper shit. Priced accordingly on that one though. Where is my lotto win?
