Looking for a good guide for LST that is better than most that I've found. Most just say tie branches down but not much more than that. And there is a pictorial guide that would be great too. Especially if its done using graphics instead of photos. I have a few grows under my belt and I have done quite bit of amateur LST and also some topping. But I still learning to find my way. Its not easy to learn for me. And I want to be more methodical about it and not just "wing it". If I wing it I can never remember how I got to the end state. What I want to look at is how to tie down the main stem early and then what you do with the rest of the branches after that. I even read an AFN tutorial that mentioned where to locate and...
To cut straight to the point, how long after placing a germinated seed in soil should it sprout? After how many days should I start to worry? Just kind of nervous because I was all set with the chosen seeds for the inaugural grow in my first tent, and my germination rates have been down lately, which of course adds to my worries. In this scenario, I'm talking about seeds germinated in a paper towel and placed into soil with 1/8"-1/4" taproots. Out of 4 seeds planted, 2 have been up for close to 3 days. The other two haven't shown any signs of wanting to make an appearance. Also, in these circumstances. How moist do you keep the soil? I'm kinda of afraid I may have error ed towards been afraid of overwatering, and might have in...
Hi All, This is my 1st Auto-Flower grow as I usually do photo's. I have 8 plants / 7 different strains growing. I started the seeds on 12-19-18. So they are at day 40. Should the bottom leaves be turning yellow already ? They are all budding up but buds are still quite small & have a ways to go. I figure at least another 30 days till anything finishes. Seems to soon for yellowing leaves to me but I'm new to Auto's so wondering if this is normal or if I have a deficiency. Thanks for any input.
Hi. I am located on Coastal Calif and in process of growing my first auto flowering girls. Since our weather is decent, my girls are outside on the deck during for most of the day and are taken in and put under LED grow bulb at night. Two have been super cropped and one left on its own. Though I am familiar with the timing of grow/harvest for a regular crop, these autos are new and I wonder if you can guesstimate how much longer they will continue to flower by these photos? They are currently about 36" in height though they have been bent at angles to facilitate light and some of the white pistols are turning darker.... How big do the buds get on average? Should I remove the large fan leaves at this point? They were...
Hey AFN, TL;DR: The right VPD makes your plants grow better. VPD = the correct temp & humidity. Link to VPD guide. We'll send you a vpd chart generator / calculator if you drop us your email. If you don't want to, just send me a PM and I'll give you the download link there. A quick summary of the high points: Why is VPD important? VPD helps you identify the correct range of temperature and humidity to aim for in your grow space. With VPD you can achieve the best results while avoiding pest and environmental problems. VPD also controls plant transpiration rates, stomata opening, CO2 uptake, nutrient uptake, and plant stress. How to calculate air VPD: A. Figure out the SVP SVP = 610.78 x e^(T / (T +238.3) x 17.2694)) T is in...
I'm not completely new to this and have pulled in some good auto harvests, but I have had some questionable results when using LST to the same degree as most others do. I've found I've had the best success when just holding down the top for a couple days and then letting it go back to its original shape, but with enhances side branching. I believe I am doing something wrong when I do the regular LST methods, because instead of ending up with several large main colas, I end up with 1 stunted main cola and a whole bunch of worthless popcorn buds. Basically every one of the bottom nodes that level with the main never quite develop enough to establish large colas and instead they stretch with only the very top producing a small nug. The...
So old tent 2x as big used Mars hydro 240w reflector and Galaxy 300w led can I use same light or both in me small tent......first round of plants all stunted put cfl in to get some started sorta worked but 4week autos leaves dry n cryspy.....so yeah wanna start new round but not sure about lights.....pH meter bite the bullet so think maybe pH wacked.....started using distilled water why I don't no ..had some organic soil switched to happy frog.....I'm a bit baked so I mite have to xplain better later but that's the jist ug
Hey AFN, I've got a simple little tip for fabric pot growers. I'm always looking for a better way to do things so here we go. I have gotten a lot of positive feedback from this so would like to share with more people. I'm sure others have done this, hell can't believe it took me over 2yrs to think of it myself. I like/need to train my plants lst, supercropping, topping whatever you got lol. I also like fabric pot, but how to tie them down? I use to use safety pins, but they only last 1 or 2 grow once you get nutrients on them. Also it ain't fun to get jabbed either. I have heard some use binder clips which is a nice way, but I'm looking for less worry more permanent. So I came to grommets. So simple a caveman can do it, no offense to...
I use to grow autos and now I've changed to photos as I'm looking for exotic strains and I've learnt so much talking with very knowledgeable growers, testing things out and seeing results. I'll start with environment. It is absolute key to keep your environment on point to get the best out of your plants. It's the best nutrient you can give your plants imo. I follow the vpd chart now (vapour pressure deficit) and my humidity doesn't go below 60% during flowering. I keep the humidity at 75-70% whole of veg 70-65% until week 5 of flower then drop its to 65-60 for the rest. I use to ramp mine down to 40% that's the worst thing you can do. If your humidity is as low as that your plants will transpire at a faster rate therefore they will...
Hey AFN family! Im on my second indoor grow. My current setup is 36x20x60 inch no name tent purchased on amazon. A 4x15 can-lite filter with 177CFM fan, and 600 watt viparspectra LED. Currently getting a significant amount of odour escaping the tent with 3 autoflowers on the grow. I, a little confused as to why as the odour is escaping based on my current setup. I'm using ona throughout my apartment and it helps but im hoping to improve upon this. I'm wondering if because of the low quality tent the odour is escaping. But that doesnt really make any sense because there is definitely negative pressure in the tent. Any suggestions????? Thanks in advance!!!!
Choosing Auto Seeds Part 2: The Outdoor Auto Edition Ahh the great outdoors!! Choosing the right strain for your climate and your personal preference is never an easy task! The options are vast and spread across hundreds of companies, and across hundreds of thousands of strains. What strain is perfect for you? Only your body knows for sure what is ideal! Different terpenes (associated with different smells) contain different types of highs, and also different medical effects are associated with varied terpenes. Once you get to grow out a number of different varieties you will get to know which terpenes fire up your receptors, which will aid you in your strain decision. The more you grow, the more you will get to know what strains you...
I'm just wondering if anyone here has had any success growing Heavyweight Seeds Auto-flowers. I'm not having nothing but Bad Luck with their seeds ! My 1st Heavyweight was a Wipeout Express. It took a month to germinate & then Hermied on me. Started germing a 2nd Wipeout Express 2 weeks ago & a Heavyweight 2 Fast 2 Vast at the same time. Neither seed has popped yet. At the same time I started those 2 I also did 2 Dutch Passion Seeds, 2 Seed Stockers Seeds, 1 Fast Buds Seed & 1 Sensible Seed which have all germinated & are about 2" tall. I'm really starting to think Heavyweight Seeds are straight CRAP !!! At least the Auto-Flower Seeds. I have some of their photo period seeds also; but haven't tried them yet. At this point I will...
So wanted to document some issues I've had with gnats! First off I didn't think I had to many. May of saw 2 or 3 within past month. Decided to switch layout of plants, under each pot was a colony with a full government and plans on concrete to take over my grows. Immediately I took my shoe and squished all that i could. Went to store and bought full organic neem oil spray, I sprayed everything from dirt to walls. 3 days of that and two spray bottles of neem, no more gnats. Next I will upload pics of damage from gnats.
I have a 4x4 tent. 1000w hps/mh i plan on dimming 25% which i assume would make it 750w. I want to use mephisto/bomb seeds/dutch passion. I want maximum yield. Using Roots Organic rogf/Fox Farm Coco Loco. With Super soil concentrate. My question is for a SOG style grow for maximum yield how many plants could i fit in this space? I ordered (5)5gal air pots. But i assume this size would be too large for a sog style for autos going for maximum yield. So im thinking 3gal? If so how many could i fit in 4x4 space? Strain dependent of course. I want at least 1lb. And second question in order to do sog with autos is there anything different i should do? Thanks.
Hello, I'm trying to clear something up and my search abilities are not working for it. I imagine this topic will depend on strain, if it's an auto or a photo, and other factors... but I was hoping there was a generalized notion of how I could determine the age of a plant. For example, does this image (taken from a post in another forum) work? I ask this, mainly, because we are trying to follow a chart given by a friend who used to do hydro and recommended it for us as a general guide line for our feeding regime. Also, we are trying to set light distance according to age. The chart is: FEEDING CHART (NOT INCLUDING PPM OF WATER) Seedlings, Early Sprouts [0.2 - 0.5 EC] -> 100 to 250 ppm (Hannah) / 128-320 ppm (Eutech) Early Vegging...
The first plant is what I’m worried about. Lemme know:) Week 1 with devils cream auto under 600 watt veg bulb in a 4x4x6 tent with fans and all that good stuff 3 out of the four are doing well from what I can tell, I’m using fox farm of soil, there trio later on, as well as cal mag and bud candy. Can’t figure out why the one plant looks so different and if I should just chop it
