Mossy Jem F10 Day 7

Day 7

Unfortunately we had a couple casualties. One received a broken stem while watering and the other just died. So down to 19 plants total.

The plant seem to be growing well. I've been feeding them 1tsp maxigro per gallon of water.

Day 21

No sign of pre-flower but I'm sure it'll will soon! The plants look good and are really growing fast.

Mossy Jem F9 day 14

My apartment building had random inspection a couple weeks back so I had to cull the plants. This happens 2 times per year. Since the plant cull I started a new batch of Mossy Jem currently @ day 17 (pics from day 14). This time I only planted 1 seed per pot and am using slow release organic fertilizer instead of Maxi products. It is quite obvious the plants are smaller this time probably due to late application of nutrients but I want organic weed without having to mix bottled nutrients.

Anyways here are the plants

Mossy Jem F9 Day 21

Day 21

Flower is starting! I binned the two smallest males and kept the bigger one. Although I probably wont use it because I bought STS to reverse a female. No females showing yet. One plant is looking a bit burnt from the fertilizer other than that all is going smoothly.

A Journey Back In Autoflowering Time

Yes time traveling weed fun! Welcome to my breeding project.

If we mentally travel back in time to when autoflowering cannabis first began you'd see small plants yielding grams not ounces. It was fun to grow a bunch of Lowryder hybrids all in the same tent resulting in nice variety of bud after harvest. This is not possible with giant 3+ foot autos.

My Goal

Breed sub 2 foot tall purple budded auto fully ripe in 63-77 days and yield 1/2oz in a 0.5-1 gallon pot.

Planned Crosses

  1. Mossy Jem S1 or F10 regs
  2. Afghan Kush Ryder (World of Seeds) waiting on seeds to arrive via fedex next week.
  3. Sour 60 (New420Guy) Ordering after cannapot responds to email.
  4. Northern Lights Auto (00Seeds) Out for delivery

The Beginning

Mossy Jem F9 are starting to flower in 6" pots. One female has been sprayed with STS (Cannabinology via amazon) and a male has been set aside in case the STS fails. 6 More Mossy Jems were planted in a 3 gallon pot 2.5 weeks later. Over kill maybe but I'm curious how big they get without root restriction. Two Master Wonder Skunk sprouted a few days ago. Northern Lights will go into wet paper towel when it arrives today.

Auto Northern Lights Finally Arrived

00 Seeds auto Northern Lights arrived today with a pack of rolling papers from Seedsman. Two seeds went straight into wet paper towel. I'm going to start collecting the tins and original breeder packaging.

Day 28

Day 28

Looks like the fertilizer is working quite well with only a little bit of tip burn. I ended up with 5 beautiful females out of 11 plants. The bigest one is for STS reversal. I've also kept two males (see below) and am considering pollinating a lower bud or two for reg seed as backup.

I'm also done planting autos for the crosses. Currently growing or sprouting are

Apex of a Male

I held a 30x loupe in front of my camera in hope of a decent shot of this male flower. No open pollen sacks yet!

Still not sure if I shoud collect from the quicker male (above) or the later one.

New Lighting

The Mars Hydro TS1000 arrived today. Yay!

Ballz!

I was moving the jems around and decided to look at the STS female up close (second application on 20th). Looks like there might be ballz forming! Yay!! Unfortunately my camera doesn't get close enough to see it. Random Cookie Killer auto bud pic below

Death Comes to STS Fem Experiment

My hope of fem seeds this round will not come to pass. I accidentally over watered the STS plant and as you can see it is practically dead so I threw it out. Luckily I saved two males and have been collecting pollen on a piece of tin foil.

Here is the plant before trashed.

Day 35

Day 35

Pollen is dropping in the big tent and the females need another week before pollination. Aside from a bit of nute burn everything looks good. The black square pots are my oldest project auto Ducksfoot bx

Day 41 - Pollination

Day 41

Update a day early this week. The chosen female has been fully pollinated with a makeup brush. And is now isolated until the hairs turn brown. All the Jems are between 6" and 10'' tall. Both males showed purple and the female hasn't yet.

Here is the lucky lady

Day 42 Update

Here are the fading pistils of the pollinated Jem. Every bud site was pollinated even the little side branch with like 4 hairs

I want a nice wide leaf indica to breed with.

Thought I'd show you guys how the potential crosses are doing. From youngest to oldest

Defoliation

I'll be slowly defoliating each plant a little bit each day. Below is the nice cola forming and a full plant pic after defoliation

The new light for starting seedlings has arrived.

Germing 8 more mossy jems in case the pollen in the freezer doesn't work. Here's the light installed

100_1302.JPG

3 Gallon Jem

I had a terrible female to male ratio in the 3 gallon pot only ended up with one female. But she is huge probably 3 times the size of the others. Already had to raise the light because she was only a few inches away from it. The jems will be set on pots to get them closer to the light. Full update in 2 days

100_1304.JPG

Day 49

The jems are all growing well. I've given them water for two days then today back to nutrients. The seeded plant appears to be purpling which is FANTASTIC!. I'm so happy. Topped Northern Lights on 11/4/22 and it looks like Master Wonder Skunk is in the flowering transition stage.

Now for the dilemma with MWS starting to flower AKR and NL are not. I have pollen in the freezer but will the pollen survive thawing out and then refreezing until the other two flower?

Here are some pics of the jems

Day 63

All the smaller jems are on flush cycle at the moment. I read somewhere when flushing you should do so with warm or room temp water because it dissolves salts better than cold water. Is there any truth to this?

3 gallon jem is doing amazing sitting at 18" tall full flower. Might cross it with the duck bx male cuz why not.

here are a couple pics of jems

Bagged the last two Jems to redistribute humidity from within the buds. Started feeling a bit crisp on the outside which is when I jar/bag.
