The making of an Auto (re-vegging, micro breeding, crossing, growing, blagging, and probably failing).
My attempts at crossing a photo into an auto strain, learning while we go. Now, with a secondary auto 2 auto crossing.
This will likely be a long ramble, so you better roll a fat one.
Project Timeline:
Seeded female Dawg Star, and the hash made from the buds.
Forgetful Dragon - F1 Seeds.
A couple of F1 Dragon buds.
R.I.P. Jamaican Haze.

Project Timeline:
- Find a good male, and get some valid pollen - RESULT: Success. I have grown some No 2 Black Dragon, and froze its pollen for use in the project.
- Find a good female to cross with - RESULT: Failure. I had a lovely female, but she died before being able to provide any cuttings to me, and therefore the scope of the whole project has changed. We are no longer making a Jamaican Haze. I have left the details of the re-veg etc in, as still a valid method.
- Put the disappointment of 2 behind me, and find another good female to cross with - RESULT: Success. Waiting in the wings these last few months is a plant which has been in and out of my life, and has been raved about by most of my city's weed heads. Unfortunately I am unsure what the plant is exactly - possibly Dawg Star or Star Dawg, but definitely a Dawg of some kind.
- Grow out the female, and pollinate one arm of the plant using the stored pollen - RESULT: Success. 15 viable seeds produced from the mother, and a killer hash
- Grow out the F1 seeds - RESULT: Pending. The seeds need a few weeks / months to mature.
- Set up another seed run while waiting on seeds to mature: Amnesia x Black Dragon - RESULT: Success. Approx 200 seeds to start Forgetful Dragons.
- Grow out the F1 seeds Forgetful Dragon - RESULT: Pending. The seeds need a few weeks to mature. These will get germinated before the Dawg gets a go.

Introduction and History.
I've been growing for nearly two decades, and ever since bringing home the first plant, I wanted a strain to call my own. More recently, since the rise of auto-flowering plant around ten years ago, I found myself changing that initial wish to having my own Auto Strain. All just for kicks, I'm not a commercial person.
The female plant is to be a Dawg Star or Star Dawg. The person I procured it from did not know which. Both plants have good linage, and this one in particular is a great yielder, strong, and has been gladly growing in my little tent for nearly a year without complaining.
Dawg Star is a medically valuable strain with a highly sophisticated background, consisting of the genetics of Purple Kush, Mazar I Sharif, OG Kush and Sour Diesel. This offspring of DarkStar and Chemdog is the answer to your problem If you suffer from strong chronic pain or insomnia.
Stardawg is a Sativa-dominant hybrid originally bred in the Bay Area of California as a cross between Chemdawg 4 and Tres Dawg.
The pollen being used comes from a Black Dragon No 2 F4.

PLEASE NOTE: The below female has recently died, and so the project will continue with the above strains.
Around six years ago I went to Ocho Rios in Jamaica, and managed to procure myself a small selection of seeds (found in the buds of some excellent weed). I came home, and of course the first thing I do is start to grow them out. I had a few females, all of which were lost for one reason or another, but in my final few seeds I got a really good female.
This plant I've grown quite a few times now, with either clones or re-vegging, and want to keep its genetics alive. She is very strong, likes LST, produces what I would call 'lambs breath' buds, where the entire arm is the bud. Very much in keeping with the way I expect Jamaican weed to be, and the original bud was. Keeping a mum is becoming a bit of an issue, so I want to create my own strain seeds. To that end, I intend to select a decent autoflower to provide pollen, and cross it.
Here's a few images of the bride to be.

Parent Re-Veg - Part 1.
As I was unsure if going to use my female I didn't keep any cuttings back. All is not lost though, as I am going to Re-Veg the female.
For those of you who have not seen a re-veg before, it is definitely something you should keep in mind when you get a really good plant. You basically chop the plant you wish to keep, leaving some pop-corn bud at the bottom, take it out of its old pot, cut back the roots & then place in some fresh soil. add some veg nutes, and put on 20/4.
Depending on how long you have had the plant in flower, will kind of dictate how long it takes to show any signs of veg growth. This plant was in flower for 8 weeks, and took about 3 weeks for any signs.
Some basic things to note:
* If you want to keep the plant, then do not add any finishing products to it before you chop.
* New growth comes from bud, not leaf. Make sure you keep both.
* Cut the plant as soon as you can, as the longer you leave it the longer it will take to revert.
* While you can re-veg the main plant and then eventually put it back into flower, it is best just to take some cuttings from it & flower those.
Here is the female, after being cut back.
A couple of weeks later, and it is beginning to look quite poorly. You need to keep on.
Eventually you will start to see new growth. It will be weird looking. This is normal.
Soon proper growth will follow.

Parent Re-Veg - Part 2.
It takes a few weeks, but eventually you start to get some decent growth. Once it begins, then it starts to get quicker.
I feed half measure of grow every other feed (soil), and some root stim. Weird growth will continue for a while, but patience...
...Then eventually....
Now towards the end of the weird growth, and beginning of proper structure.
Here, we have some growth which is almost at cutting stage. We will deal with taking cuttings, and vegging those in the next update.
This pic clearly shows the onset of good new growth, guess which side was mostly facing the light?

Death of the Jamaican female.
I had hoped by this time I would be showing you a new plant, ready for flowering, but instead it is to announce that she died suddenly. I believe overtaken by rot, while still in recovery mode. This is one of the drawbacks of the re-veg, especially in Winter.
The rot came on, and spread very quickly.
Cuttings were taken, but they were in a weak state and eventually they all died.
This is the end of that particular plant, and completely gutting, but still want to continue with the project.
That is coming up soon...

Rise of the Dawg - A new Queen.

ADDITIONAL: Various sources have advised this looks more like the Dawg Star, which seems correct as she does not behave like a Sat Dom.
Seeded @ 2 Weeks Flower (4 weeks 12/12)
After an additional 6 weeks of pregnancy (total 8 weeks flower, 10 weeks 12/12), I decide to chop.
From the plant I receive 15 viable;e seeds, quite large as well. More than enough to get the next phase going.
The remains of the mother, was turned into some really spanking hash - despite some greenness.

Forgetful Dragons
While the Dawg x Black Dragon seeds are maturing for a couple of months, I need another project.
I was talking to my nephew (who lives in Amsterdam), and he reminded that when I visit I smoke every piece of Amnesia Haze in the shops. The answer to my quest was so obvious in that moment, I don't know why I hadn't thought of it before - an epiphany of sorts. Combine two of my favourite strains, Amnesia Haze and Black Dragon. This time I'm not going to go to all the trouble of turning a photo to auto, but instead stand on the shoulders of giants and run autos only, so I can concentrate on getting the traits I want.
After hunting around I found there are a few different Amnesia autos out there, but some are just crosses they have called Amnesia, and not the haze I want. I then found Royal Queen Seeds, and they have the plant I'm looking for - according to their spiel.
I will be using the same frozen pollen from the F3 Black Dragon, as used for the Dawg crossing.
Although these plants are reported to grow large, I'm going to try and keep them small.
The Amnesia Haze Automatic is the result of many years breeding. A cross of the Amnesia Haze, bred in The Netherlands in the 1990's by Hy-Pro Seeds. The original Amnesia, aka Amnesia Haze, Champagne Haze, The Bomb, Ultra Haze and many others names is classic Sativa strain, popular everywhere.
2 of the 3 received seeds were germinated, and 1 kept back as a backup with the free Northern Lights. They were seeded into Solo cups, where they were kept for little over 2 weeks. Both are now in final containers, which are probably only triple the size of the original starter cup.
1 Plant is currently showing heat / light stress, and has been for a while. Getting to 35 in there at present, whereas only a couple of months ago I was at 10 degrees.
1 Amnesia ready for chop. Some buds, and resulting seeds.
So next thing is to check the new Forgetful Dragon F1 seeds, but I need to give a few weeks to up the germination rate.
I am also thinking of choosing a male from the F3 Black Dragons and pollinating a female from these F1, to make it more BD, but not confirming that yet.
