Completed First Grow*

Overview

You can check the blog details for the hardware I use...

When it comes to feeding girls... I'll go with advanced nutrients and TaNg's easy auto feeding schedule which is quite helpfull for a newbie like me, so keeping things simple.

There are two auto genetics that a friend gave me as a gift on the first try: Dinafem Blue Cheese and Fast Buds BubbleGum, in 4 liter pots with biobizz lightmix and some extra perlite. The reason I use small pots is because watering may be easier.

Let me remind you that I have already started. After soaking the seeds in water for 12 hours, today they were placed in wet paper towels. They are in a plastic box that I covered with a black cloth placed in the tent. I keep the pots filled with soil in the tent as well.

*They will be treated with 20/4 light cycle from start to finish.

I will try to update here at least once a week..

Hope you enjoy!

Vegging

One of the seeds cracked oddly, showed both head and tail at the same time. The other was pretty straight. Assuming that the strangely cracked one could do better in the soil then paper towel, I planted them together.

Blue Cheese got out of bed today, after 24 hours in the soil. I will wait for the other one to count.

Day 1

The other one lifts her head from the ground so I accept today as the first day.

*I am not going to change the height of the light for now as the plants do not stretch up, it's 45 cm above.
*For watering, I use a 40 ml shot glass as the soil dries.

I think this plan is okay for the first 10 days.

Day 4

I'm a little worried since it is my first time, but it seems like they started well.

I took a picture before they drink water.
It's very easy to see that there is a day between them.

foto_no_exif (27).jpg

Day 7

The first week is about to end.

My only concern is to make a watering mistake in this early stage, but no trouble so far. The shot glass really helps.

Day 9 / First feeding

It's time to shake!

10th day is suggested in the schedule but I wanted to give the first mix as the soil is ready today, added Sensi Bloom A&B and Sensi Cal Mag at 1ml per 1L. Cal Mag will jump in regularly throughout the feeding. Also increased the amount of water I give to 100 ml for each... prepared a small amount of mix for now because I can't predict how they will react to feeding.

A finger is missing from Bubblegums second set of leaves, which should have 3 fingers. Surprised me again after that weird germination. Sometimes I see plants with similar anomalies. Maybe it's too early to worry.

Day 12

Both beauties watered 100ml each yesterday, both growing well. Feeding as it is on the 9th day.

Day 14

We are about to leave the first two weeks behind. I thought it would be boring but it was quite fun.

Okay, so what about LST?

Although bending plants seem easy, I am not sure I can start at the right time and in the right way. I just feel that I need some basic experience before. Anyway, decided to do some pony tailing which seems easier and safe, then leaf tucking will come into play.

Bondage blues... 6 hours a day

foto_no_exif (35).jpg

Day 18

Watering every two days with base nutrients and calmag at 1 ml per liter. I hope I can start watering daily soon.

Ponytailing does not seem to work as well as I thought, but I still keep going.

Bubblegum | Blue Cheese

Day 23

Both showed pistils. Feeding is updated as 1.5 ml per Liter and they started to drink 200 ml each time.

foto_no_exif (38).jpg

Day 28

I started training on day 23 and looks like it works. Thanks for your advice guys.

Sensi Bloom increased to 2 ml per Liter. Big one started to drink daily.

Flowering

Here it begins...

:growing:

Day 32

There is not much to say, everything seems fine.

Sensi Bloom at 2 ml per Liter and 1 ml CalMag, watering daily.

Day 35

Day 39

Vertical growth is slowing down on both, I'll start adding CarboLoad.
There is some yellowing on the lower leaves of Bubblegum, so increasing the base nutrients slightly.

We had a little mishap two days ago: I accidentally broke the top of the Bubblegum's main cola, ahaha. I fixed it with a pipe cleaner. Fingers crossed*

Planning my second grow

Oi!

I will take the risk of summer heat and start the second one immediately.

Searching for new mediums and techniques because I will not easily give up the pot size I use and the idea of growing two genetics at once in such a small space
I see that some growers get quite large plants even from 2 liter pots with Coco. That's why I feel good with my 4 liter pots.

Anyway, here is the draft:

First things first, getting Coco bricks like this.
Since I am not sure whether I will attempt this again or not, for now, two of that can do the job.

There are some Coco growers who hand water from beginning to end, but it seems that alternative methods are generally preferred after the first few weeks.
While thinking about what to do, I saw the set below during a visit to my mom:cheers: I succumbed to my obsession with grabbing unused things as usual. Lol*

It was set up for one plant, but it has enough pieces to change and make it suitable for my grow.
I am thinking of adding an air pump and air stone as well.

Let's see what tomorrow brings!

Day 47 / Deficiency

There is some Potassium deficiency if I'm not mistaken, but it would be great if you could take a look at the photos I added for a better diagnosis.

Feeding:
Sensi Bloom A&B at 2ml per L.
Carboload at 1ml per L.
Overdrive at 1ml per L.

That's the problem, they both have it.

Day 50

Both flushed two days ago. They seem okay for now.

I realized I have nothing to check the trichomes, lol. Ordered a good smartphone microscope with 400x magnification*

Day 53 / Trichomes

Update: I took a look here again https://www.autoflower.net/forums/t...uring-a-guide-to-finishing-quality-bud.66025/

Actually I thought it would take longer but I feel like we're getting close to the end. I checked the trichomes today and saw some cloudy and amber trichomes here and there. I also attached a tent shot as well.

Any ideas?

Day 62 / Harvest

giphy.gif

I know it's early, but I wanted to start a new one right away. It would better to get another harvest as my working from home adventure will be over after the holiday.
Although they have not reached their potential, they will be consumed with pleasure as sweet memories of the first experience... lol! In the end it was quite fun.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by*

After a while, I will put them in paper bags. I am not sure how they will be cured as harvest time can have an effect on curing.
Of course, I'll take them in jars anyway and add moisture meters.

Welcome to AFN mate , you are on the right track so all the best , if you get stuck just sing out and you will get plenty of help .

I can't speak for FastBuds, but their reputation is certainly solid. As for Dinafem, great choice! I have 100% germination with Dinafem, and probably the healthiest and fastest growing seedlings I've seen. Currently rocking some Cheese XXL, with Blue Amnesia to try out next!

Best of luck!

It's good to hear some review about Dinafem. I can't wait to see how mine will turn out*

Good luck with your Cheese XXL!

They are looking mighty fine my bubble get's the chop tomorrow she smells sweet and silcky mmmmmmmmm
Thanks! Yours has come to the finish line with some insane frostiness. I hope i can give mine what she needs.

It looks like, sir. Thanks* They're pretty short for now but I guess it generally starts like this.
It always seams like they are slow but most of its going on under ground they will shoot up once they get going
