Cookies Gelato from RQS

Cookies Gelato: A Mix Between Girl Scout Cookies and Gelato 33
The more cannabis you smoke, the higher your tolerance becomes. It doesn’t take much for beginners to get stoned. A couple of puffs from a weak strain will do the trick. However, after several years, frequent smokers require stronger bud to experience the same effects. Cookies Gelato is one of these strains. She provides a monstrous THC level that thrusts the mind into an altered state of consciousness and suspends it there for hours.
Cookies Gelato inherited her mighty effects from potent parent strains Girl Scout Cookies and Gelato. However, this dynamic duo is known for more than their sheer power. As you can tell from their names, they both boast sweet and sugary terpene profiles. Cookies Gelato is a manifestation of the best traits from both of these legendary varieties.
Effects, flavor and aroma
It’s not hard to tell that these flowers pack a punch. A brief glance at the buds reveals a forest of trichomes and an ocean of resin. This sticky substance smells spectacular and holds an outrageous THC level of 28%. Such a high level of the psychoactive cannabinoid results in an immediate high. A single hit is enough to induce a high that’s capable of overwhelming novices.
The hybrid strain contains both indica and sativa genetics, with effects targeting body and mind in equal measure. The head high is characterised by a rush of euphoria and a philosophical perspective. It’s almost psychedelic. The body high is less pronounced, but adds a relaxing touch.
It could be argued that Cookies Gelato is one of the most aromatic strains available. Her shimmering, bulbous buds emit an attractive scent of sugary sweetness—similar tones race across the tongue upon inhalation.
Growing Cookies Gelato
Not only does Cookies Gelato produce savagely potent flowers, but she does so in significant quantities. After flowering for 8–10 weeks, she produces approximately 600g/m² when cultivated indoors. Growers can enhance yields through training techniques such as LST.

Really looking forward to giving these a try.

VEG Day 0

This grow will be done using the following:
Up to 450 Watts of adjustable COBs (will be changing these to a Quantum Board type fixture from Mars Hydro in a few weeks)
1500W Oil Heater
RAM Humidifier
50L RDWC system with a BOYU SES-30 Air Pump (this also aerates the tea and another reservoir that I fill 2 days before a water change using a 5 output manifold)
Megacrop v2 (single)
CalMag Pro
Sweet Candy
Bud Explosion
Atamai AtaClean
A 'Heisenberg Tea' using TNC Mycorr Hydro, Molasses and EarthWorm Castings.

The Tea and reservoir are kept at 22.5C (about 72F) to encourage the growth of bennies in the system.

Temperature and Humidity will be controlled:

After a few days in a cupboard, the bean has popped and has been moved into the tent:

Air Temp 25C (apparently this strain doesn't like much higher than that)
Humidity 71%
Water Temp 22.5C
pH: 5.9

No feed added yet, will add that in a few days.

Just a single light running at 13 Watts, about 12" from the seedling
0_2.jpg

Dead seedling...

Unfortunately, the seedling has shuffled off it's mortal coil
It initially had a helmet head that I assisted with, but unfortunately I missed the membrane that dried over the leaves.
When I noticed this after a day or so, I moistened it and managed to remove it, but it would appear the damage was done and she never recovered.

Another seed is germinating as we speak.

Day 0 MKII

New seed has got underway in double quick time
24 hours in pH'ed water to start the process.
24 hours in a damp sheet of kitchen roll inside a lockable bag.
24 hours in a rootit plug in a germination tray.

After these 72 hours I have a seedling with the taproot already outside the plug.
This will now be moved into the rdwc system using hydroton clay pebbles that have been boiled and then soaked for 2 days in water pH'ed to 5.8 - the pH had to be adjusted twice a day but is now steady at 5.8.

Day 3

She is now moved into the tent
After 3 days, she is looking like this:

IMG_20220805_142958.jpg

Nutrients have been added at 0.5 recommended strength and I will adjust based on what the plant is telling me from now on.
pH: 5.9
ppm/ec:
Air temp: 24.4°C
Water temp: 22.5°C
RH: 70%

Day 7

Just put another seed into kitchen towel in a baggie. Decided to run 2 of these Cookies Gelato in separate RDWC systems in the same tent.
This will allow me to cut down the veg time if I want to fill the tent
The fact that she will be 8 days or so behind should not be an issue as these are photos and that side of the tent is slightly smaller due to the oil heater taking up room

Back to the first lady though, and she is now a week old. Looking good although her roots have still not left the net pot. Fully expecting a growth explosion when this happens.

Day 40

After being topped at the 5th node and the bottom 2 nodes being removed, there seems to be a nutrient issue developing.
Leaves on one plant are noticably yellowing, and the other one is showing first hints of the same.
Environment is under control at 24C and 60%RH, with good air flow.
Water temps are 21C and bennies are being fed regularly.

Posted in the infirmary regarding this.
Have also dropped 3 Purple Punch Autos in yoghurt pots to just hang from the ceiling. Not planning on much with these, just throwing them in there to use up space and to see what I can get. Having over 60 seeds sitting in the fridge for a couple of years, I figure I might as well get SOMETHING out of them.
You can see one of the pots hanging in the background of one of the pictures.
Ignore the brown colour of the roots - it's a combination of the Megacrop and the beneficial tea staining them. No root rot.

Day 47

The yellowing has become much worse.
Full reservoir change every few days and no change, so the Megacrop being a few years old (and opened) is getting the blame.
Switching to Canna Aqua nutrient lineup for one of the plants and transplanting the other into a 20 litre (5 gal) Airpot.
Also moving the 3 Autos into 12l (3gal) Airports as a backup.
The ladies in Airports will be using Coco/perlite and the Canna coco lineup.
Just need to wait for the $$$ to buy all the new stuff.

Day 65

Ladies have been transplanted and the nutes changed to the Canna lines and all is looking better.
Yellowing leaves are starting to grow green again and the one transplanted into coco is taking well to it.
May have left the transplant of one of the autos a tough too late as she seemed root bound by the yoghurt pot, though the other 2 being a bit slower to start may have helped them. The root bound one also needed tied down as she was leggy as hell...

Day 1 of Flower

85 days in veg due to the nutrient issues and delay caused by topping about 5 times (possibly an exaggeration, though possibly not - basically manifolded them rather than mainlining.)

The autos have loved their new pots apart from the one that was root bound and went into flower immediately upon transplanting. The others were a week or 10 days behind and have now almost finished their flowering stretch. I will probably lose yield now that they are under 12 12 along side the photos, but I have raised them closer to the light so they should be getting the same DLI as under 18/6, but we shall see.

The Photos have recovered well from their nutrient issues and look healthy apart from a few calmag deficiency looking spots on the RDWC plant.

I Like RQS never had any trouble with them. I also like cobs, good luck.

Cheers bud ;)
My first Photoperiod and I am going to try and fill the tent with it.
Was considering mainlining, but I think instead that I will just top it after 4 full nodes, LST it flat and run 8 branches that way. Some LST and a SCROG net and it should be good to go...

but I think instead that I will just top it after 4 full nodes said:
A man after my own heart. although I prefer 4 plants scrog.
I did just attempt a singleton, but the plants just didnt want to grow wide enough to make it a viable/efficient/profitable grow. probably my own impatience. :smoking:S o back to 4x scrog. I find it the most efficient way to use my small space and remain profitable.

Multiple plants in RDWC is a pain in the posterior unless I run 4 clo... hmmm..... :eyebrows:

i am sure you will get the results you are hoping for, the cookies gelato isnt a big plant as I understand, I think under 150m tall, but indoors and scrogged that should be a good, well spread canopy with LST and topping.

i look forward to watching how it goes.

According to the data sheet for it, Indoor height is 90 - 130 cm.
In a 4x4, that leaves me 50cm of lateral, scrog netted, growth before the plant gets too close to the walls and I flip it, so 40 - 70cm of vertical growth left then in flower.
Should be big enough if I look after her well.

seems like good math:smoking:

Think exactly the same way, @Corum59 and I have had this discussion before, I'm way to insecure to just grow one, need back up but wishing you every success because they do say where there's a will there's always a big fat way
