Auto Blackberry Kush Auto Jedi Kush, both in one SWC pot.

WEEK Three

Ok I'm still trying to work out this Blog format. Hopefully I just have one blog that starts out with some pages explaining the Shallow Water Culture concept, and this post is hopefully a new entry in the same blog. But I really have no idea where it's gonna end up.

Anyhoo, I started two bean in one SWC pot and this is week three. The Jedi Kush had a triple branch at the top which confused me and I ended up leaving a single branch at the fourth node Week Three - 7.jpeg so 7 branches on that one. The Blackberry Kush also confused me by going into what looks like flowering mode midway through week two Week Three - 20.jpegWeek Three - 21.jpeg

Week Four Blackberry Kush, Jedi Kush

Week Four

Everything is proceeding normally. I've spread out Blackberry as much as I dare as the branches are pretty stiff, unlike the Jedi that I have managed to spread out quite a bit. I know that the Jedi is going to make a lot of sub branches which will probably have to be thinned out, but plenty of time for that right now it's just wait and see. I've not done any huge defoliation just a steady removal of leaves every day which I will continue to do, and maybe do a major defoliation later.

As per usual there really isn't anything that goes wrong in the shallow water culture method I use, I don't use additives and I keep the pH around 6. Strangely the plants do not seem to be using up much of the nutrient, as they normally do, although they are still growing vigorously. Some roots tried to escape via the drain tube so they got poked back in, that's about the most dramatic thing that happened this week.

Still running 200W made up of 80W each on the QB's and 40W on the ChiLed.

EDIT: Sudden late Defoliation at end of Day 28 see before and after shots.

Week Five

Week Five has arrived.

Blackberry is beginning to bud up and Jedi is just about to start flowering properly. I'm probably going to have to do something to spread these out a bit before it's too out of control. Meanwhile here's the latest updates. The Blackberry shot up to 18" this week and I've now put the lights on max power, which is 450 true Watts.

Weeks 6 turned out to be 9

I have had a chance to sample some early produce hence I have slacked off a tad. Everything is progressing as smoothly as one would expect. The Blackberry Kush suddenly decided to ripen up caught me by surprised and a few days after week 8 they had that sudden look that tells you it's time to chop. The Jedi Kush on the other hand have a couple of weeks to go it's hard to tell with them. While the Blackberry Kush is dark colours, large calyxes, meaty branches and loose resinous buds exotic aromas, the Jedi Kush is the complete opposite light colours and unassuming appearance, with very small densely packed calyxes, small tight little nuggets on willowing slender stems with a classic slightly sour taste. The three Blackberry's I've grown have all been different but the Jedi Kush is always the same. But I've not seen any weed yet as packed to the rafters with resin as the Jedi Kush, it would bring in a monster return for a big press. Got 365g wet trimmed off the Blackberry so 2.5 zips when dry, the Jedi, is looking more like at least 4.5, so hopefully I'll get close to the 8 I was aiming for.

Week Eight - 4.jpeg

Blackberry Kush and Jedi Kush finished

Jedi came down at 8.5 and the Jedi went to 11, what else. There's already a Brooklyn Sunrise and a Purple Gorilla in their own pots underway.

After getting the Blackberry down I was able to spread the Jedi out and she has done her usual thing and really packed on the resin in her small tight little buds. 8 oz off the Jedi and 2.5 off the Blackberry.
