World’s First Intrinsically Seedless Cannabis

Just another step towards homogenized same weed in every dispo that will make the small time grower/breeder have a higher demand for his artismal product.....Gave out xmas present samples of some nice purple Anvil and every week someone bugging me about when next batch is gonna be ready...When everything is the same, something different stands out more.

That's a really good point. Of course, people drank cheap, bland pilsner for 80 years until craft beer really came back.

I saw this same article the other day; this seems like a massive step in the wrong direction.

Dark Heart is worth about 5 million dollars. "“The ability to grow THC-rich cannabis from sterile, triploid seeds and clones that are guaranteed to produce virtually seedless plants is a huge win for the cultivators we support."

I'm pretty sure growers like you are NOT the "cultivators they support."

I feel like this is made for when the tobacco companies start to grow fields for preroll packs in convience stores. And it will help the people near the fields of hemp that end up pollinating everything around them. I don't think it'll effect homegrown or artisanal markets since all the big name strains and breeders for them are also selling seeds now, just takes like 2 years after the hype for the S1s to come out. There will be a point where shitty joints are sold like cigarettes and there's clearly a market since nobody grows and rolls their own tobacco

If they did there probably wouldn't be nearly as much lung cancer.

Shitty joints are already sold like cigarettes.

I can't speak for other states, but in Colorado, the extreme majority of pre-rolls on the market are made from shake/trim, not from flower.

"Flower joints" are actually marketed as such, and fetch a larger price than regular pre-rolls. And some companies put them in a little tin or box, or you can get old school like my local dispensaries that just shove 28 1-gram joints into a mylar package and sells it as your legal oz limit for the day.

I don't think that's really who it's for. I think the really big companies will be selling 20 joints for $5 right next to the cigarettes. Marlboro reds or greens type of thing. I think more general public, then people that will stop in a dispensary type. Grab a pack while you're at the liquor store or getting lottery tickets or a cup of coffee market

I wasn't saying that everything should be free. I'm saying that it would be nice to have some open-source genetics to protect some strains from being exploited.
So only the things that you really want should be free? :crying:This is always a weird conversations not only because people want free access to others property. I am sometimes amused by folks admitting that they stolle this guys stuff and that guys stuff and crossed them and are now making money on it. Sure some breeders may be okay with that, but how many folks would be sued by the original breeders if their product was totally legal and subject to IP protections under the law?

When was the last time that you saw $5 cigarettes in many states? The problem with total legalization isn't just "big casnnabis" taking over. Its the government taxing the hell out of everything and then deciding that it is bad for the children, so they will tax it until you cant afford it anymore.
