I have a Daquiri Lime auto on my deck, 43 days old, flowering for just over a week. In 10 gallons of organic soil in a SIP.

Past Friday-

Yesterday we had a couple of thunderstorms roll through the area with wind. I went to a friend’s house to work on his motorcycle and had to swing back by our house for another tool (of course).

When I walked up the drive and glanced over at the deck, the patio umbrella had come loose from its base, lifted out of the table, and landed on aforementioned plant. And the marigolds and cleomes there for camouflage.

It broke one branch completely off, and damaged 2 others. I got the damaged ones staked and splinted, we’ll see how they fare.

But this morning I did my check on them and virtually all the pistils on this plant are now turning brown.

Is this from stress? Is the plant thinking it needs to hurry up and finish? Or, is there a male plant around I don’t know about and she’s been pollinated? (Last one not as likely, the Blue Dream on the other side of the deck still has pure white pistils.)

Thoughts?

Pistils can change color prematurely from being handled, from stress, even from being sprayed by some foliar applications/pesticides.

Some cultivars will throw out what looks like brand new, white pistil growth all the way up to what is clearly chop.

Thanks, I’ll keep an eye on her. But at this point I’ve given up on the outdoor plants producing much. Anything that survives to ripen will just be lagniappe.

Did you start them outdoors or indoors? I started a small run here recently indoors and took everything pretty much through veg under artificial light, and then had this wild hair up my butt to stick all the plants outside once they hit flower (autos.) I am seeing amaaaaaaaaaazing growth in the flowers since I've done this! And... grasshopper damage. lol

Started inside, hardened off for about 5 days, then transplanted outside. I have to keep them low and out of sight, so they both got topped at 22 days. I damaged the Blue Dream auto through my own inexperience, now shit falls from the sky on the other. Lol.

And yes, they were flowering really well. My indoor plants (5 days younger) are growing really big, but nowhere near as advanced in flowering. The outdoor stuff has been sprayed with neem twice and Spinosad once, but before they were really getting their flowers on. But of course, you’re always gonna have something sampling the leaves. Hell, I like salads myself. .

The snow peas I planted for camouflage (along with tomatoes) are dying. Too much heat or too much water, I dunno. Maybe I should look up advice on growing snow peas, all I knew is they climb and they would block the neighbor’s view. And I like eating them. Lol

So the cannabis plants will be watered and left to fend for themselves from here on. As was said in my youth, “Root, hog, or die”. And anything I harvest from them will be that much sweeter.

Well, 2 days after I started this thread, she burst forth with a truckload of white pistils. Then about 2 days after that the new pistils started turning brown.

I started checking trichs everyday. And last Friday found budworms. Grrr.

Soaked her with BT spray, now the trichs are all cloudy with a few amber. So she’s coming down Wednesday (when all our visitors have left) and I’ll see how many worms fall out as she dries. Time to prep my budwashing buckets.

She’s 58 days today.

And yes, my photography skills do suck. Lol

Yes, pistils can change color throughout the grow. They can change color from being handled, they can change color sometimes depending on if they are sprayed with certain things, stress can cause their color to change, etc.

Some cultivars will throw out brand new pistil growth all the way up to what is clearly harvest time.

Well, to wrap this up, the plant was harvested at day 63. Fastest autoflower I’ve done. Dried and trimmed it came out to 2 oz. Curing now.

The root system was not at all impressive considering it was in a SIP with 10 gallons plus of soil. So I’ll spend some time trying to figure that out. But for now, 2 ounces is better than none.
