i almost always clip the bottom branches if they dont get much light anyways, never had a problem with it stunting them.. and as muddy said it helps with air circulation

dude when you clip do you clip the branch right back at the main stem?

Even when you clip it back to the main stalk little shoots will sometimes still grow around the cut. I pull those off as well. I trim mine up when I transplant, usually around week 3, right after they sex. I hate having leaves laying down on the soil after I feed. They only end up dying anyway so might as well get them out of the way. Even on some of the branches I leave I'll sometimes cut off any small flowers close in to the stalk. Let that energy to to the buds higher up the branches. Less popcorn.
