New Grower Will bigger soil pots grow bigger plants?

I agree there would be a size limit as to were it would benefit a plant however I think majority of strains would benefit from a 5 gallon over a 3 gallon. I have done comparisons myself between 4 gallon 5 gallon and 7 gallon and there has been a correlation between plant and pot size with every strain iv tested. I pretty much mix pot sizes in all of my grows due to various factors such as lack of space.

Don't forget those roots grow super quick, with fabric pots it's only a matter of a couple of weeks before thone roots start to poke out the bottom even using larger pots.

hence why plants grown outdoors generally yield a lot more, I know this factor is also down to the quality of light.

I appreciate all the great replies.
I'm gonna go with Mephisto Genetics with my eye on Hubbabubbasmelloscope and Chem City Blues.
Both of these are listed as their largest varieties so I'm seriously considering the Root Trapper II 5 gallon. They are 10" in diameter and 15" tall. They would fit nicely.

I like to grow only add water organic so I run larger pots than normal so I have enough nutrients to hold me over a whole grow. Even using bottled nutrients though I liked large pots. I did not throw the PH off as easily, I did not have to feed as often or water as much. I run [HASHTAG]#15[/HASHTAG] pots with about a full 1.5 CF bag of soil in each pot or a little more if I added something with bulk to it like worm castings. A 5 gallon pot dose pretty good job though and will pretty much grow as large of a plant as you want if your feeding your plants. I don't like 3 gallons mostly because I leave for days at a time and when a plant gets close to harvest they require too much water.

I switched to 4 gal plastic pots a couple grows ago for the longer period between watering and generally yield 4-6 oz per plant w/ the 4 gal pots... 4 gallons of wet soil are heavy enough to move around ...

As a rule of thumb, bigger pot = bigger plant = bigger yield. But there's that many variables to take into consideration, you could run a 45L pot with some CFL lights, and do same grow using MH/HPS, one will far out yield the other, the quality of light is much better.
Genetics will also play a massive part, I've grown a few fast buds strains, and tbh, of the strains I've grown, they seem to be happiest in a 10L pot, a lot of their strains are extremely strong, but aren't heavy yielders genetically, so isn't the need for a massive pot size.
Indica vs sativa, I would always stick a sativa in a larger pot, due to the longer time they take, and they seem to need the extra root room to get to a good size.
An Autoultimate in a 15L pot will easily pull 150g, trying to pull that from a lsd-25 will be so much more difficult, basically down to genetics of the plant.
And there is the overall skill level of grower, all of these things will effect size of plant.
So yes, bigger pot is a bigger plant, but keep in mind it won't just happen. The bigger pot you grow in, I find it can be a bit more difficult to grow, getting used to weight of light pot etc.
It's all very trial and error, have fun with it, mess around! And just enjoy mixing things up, if you do end up changing pot soze that is.
Happy growing

Yeh 10l pots are great for autos had some real good sized plants just lacking in light, got a 15l airpot as kinda experiment, thought it would be harder to burn or over feed in a bigger pot

I've never had any problems with burn in bigger pots. I like to start mine in a 1L and transplant after about 2 weeks though. When potted on, soak the soil with a light feed and wait till its dry, then continue as normal.

I have seen some huge plants in small pots on this web site, I am not skilled enough to to do it. Some of the small pot grow offs are crazy.

Some guys and girls in this site are growing monsters! I think my next venture will be coco it autopots.
