New Grower Why are AF's so unpredictabel

Thanks for the feedback. IDS, I use to start in solo cups and cut out the bottom when ready to be in a 2 or 3 g. container. Lately have been starting in a pots that are twice the size of solo's and cutting the bottom out and placing them in 3 g's. I will keep at the auto's , but will rely on the weight and consistency of photo's I guess. DR. Who, I will also try my hand at cloning this summer or fall. I have read you can use HPS for the entire life of a plant, and tried this because I lost my MH and recently purchasing a replacement. but there is no doubt in my mind that all plants do much better under MH until flowering. The plants I grew under hps either stretched or jumped into flowering mode at an early stage ( auto's) Happy Sunday to all.

chrisp, I don't think you are understanding that autos can not start flowering early. They are genetically programmed to flower at a certain age, usually 3-4 weeks. There is no late or early for an auto.

That is true, abotu them being genetically programmed to flower at a certain age, but I think it's more of a range than a specific date, especially considering the phenos and other genetic variances due to them all being grown from seed. Also, topping and other forms of training elay flower time as well.

I dig it I and do realize they are programmed to flower at a certain age rather than a certain size. I guess my statement was confusing and bordering on inaccurate. My frustration in that statement was that some plants seem to flowering at a SMALL size. And I realize that there is no cure for that. Some plants just don't make it to the desired size. It just baffles me that side by side they can look completely different. I guess its a roll of the dice. I appreciate all of the tips and feedback. While on the subject of autos. Is there a strain that handles the heat of summer without suffering stress related issues?
