Which is a better set up?

Hi FTF,

I'm going to be growing photos. And as to how much I smoke it really depends on the month weirdly enough. During the winter months I smoked maybe an ounce a month but throughout the rest of the year I can smoke about 3 to 4 oz is a month.

The main dilemma I'm facing is grow one big monster in a three-by-three tent for flower. Or grow to medium-sized plants in the two by four tent.

I'll be going straight from seed and no clones because I want to be able to choose the strain I'm going to smoke and even though it's legal in Canada I don't know where to get clones.
Are you growing autos or photos?

If you're doing autos then even one tent would suffice. How much do you smoke?

If you're doing photos then two tents will work better for a perpetual grow with clones and give you time to grow seeds out to clone.

Hi FTF,

The main dilemma I'm facing is grow one big monster in a three-by-three tent for flower. Or grow to medium-sized plants in the two by four tent.

The way I run my tents is in the flower tent I'll have several plants going for say 10 weeks.

In the second tent I'll start some seeds I have interest in. By 4 weeks the seeds will be ready to take cuttings. I'll label and root the cuttings. They'll, the cuttings, veg for another 4 weeks. Then the seed mothers can be moved to the flower tent.

You don't have to grow large plants. High density planting can provide yield as well. You could plant 9-36 clones in a 3x3 tray and the higher the density the shorter veg time. Some strains grow so well that shorter veg times are advised.

A method like this with some strains and proper care could have you looking at roughly 18g per plant x 36 is almost 1.5lbs

Some growers take clones right before flower and root them never maintaining a mother plant. I like keeping genetics.

Genetics are going to play such a role in what you choose to do. Doing dwc can provide you larger plants in a shorter time, DTW coco allows smaller pots - 1 gallon works well - for great yield. There's a lot you can do.

i focus on efficiency so I don't like wasting resources to grow massive plants when I can get more cycles with clones. Especially with only a 4oz consumption rate you might not need a whole of clones to satisfy your goals.

Hey man,

So I've narrowed it down to these 2 options for my set up. 1- the 2.7 by 2.7 by 6 ft grow tent for veg for one plant and then the 3 by 3 by 6 ft tent for flower for 1 plant or Option 2- the 2.7 by 2.7 by 6 foot grow tent for veg for two plants and then a 2 by 4 by 6 ft tent for flower for two plants.

I don't know for sure but it's my thought that I would harvest quicker with the second option because my veg time would be less. Also I'll have the ability to grow two strains at once. And the major benefit I can see with the first option is that it'll use less seeds less soil and have to water less but the savings aren't that dramatic imho

For both of these setups I decided that I'll just do 4-way LST instead of scrog. If you don't mind me asking, what of those two options do y'all think is best? Thank you very much again for your input, it's much appreciated.
2x4 option it's more versatile if you want to try at some point 1gal pots you should be able to fit 8 or so at 2oz each that 1lb also as was stated you have a 2x2 if you grow 2 plants which is a good size as always it's up to you I personally am looking@ 2x4 and 4x4 veg flower setup
