Ok all I was trying to find where to post this question, so thought I'd just do it here.

I am about to return my inline fan to Amazon (Aren't they good) and I have decided to go passive so I am not looking to get a replacement exhaust fan for my 1.2, 1.2, 2.0 tent. I was recommended to check out "Gekko" and and after looking I like the sound and look of them, my question is..

What size do I get?

I want it to do a fine job in my current set-up but also wanted to future proof for if and when I decide to upgrade my tent and size of tent. I intent to order s Phresh filter to attach to my new exhaust fan, I am definitely in an area where stealth is paramount in regards to smells! And low noise would be greatly appreciated to. I hear general rule of thumb for working out fan and filter needs is your tent dimension × 60

Example for me

1.2 × 1.2 × 2.0 × 60 = 172.80.

So I was looking at Phresh filter to go with my Gekko box.

So 6" or 8" for the fan? And what size for the filter as I have heard it's good to oversize your filter.

Site I am looking at ATM have the 6 & 8 inches at same price.

Any thoughts would be great.

If you think you will definitely go bigger later, then get the 8" box fan with 8" Phresh filter. That is the brand filter I have been using for a long time. Never had a problem with them. Just make sure the cfm of filter is larger than the cfm of the fan.

I went for a kit of OneStopGrowShop and comes with Hyper Fan Stealth 6" 535m3 per hour and it either comes with the

ComboAir 50 6" 100mm/300mm
600m3 p/h

Or

ComboAir 60 6" 150mm/660mm
1350m3 p/h

I think it's the 50, going by calculations of

1.2 × 1.2 × 2.0 × 60 172.8 m3 p/h × 1.5 (With filter) 207.36 m3 p/h

So either way should be fine, I just went back to look at the add for the kit and it seems it's a different one to either I have emailed for clarification.

This taken directly from add.

Which size kit do I need for my Grow Tent?

There exists a (relatively) easy formula to work out which size extraction you need for your space, find out the volume in m3 (meters cubed) of your grow space with Width x Length x Height = Volume. Then, using that figure do, Volume x 60 = Air Movement Per Hour (this will refresh the air in your grow room every minute).

If you are using a filter (which you are), Air Movement Per Hour x 1.2 = the amount of air your fan will need to move - use the figures below to match up your space to an Phresh Hyper Fan kit!

Bear in mind it's always better to over spec your fan and reduce its output with a controller, this gives you the flexibility to increase it's output to maintain optimum conditions for your plants, for example in the middle of summer.

6" (150mm) 535m3/hr (Hyper Fan) with 150mm/500mm CarboAir 600 m3/hr Carbon Filter

So should be fine, yes?

Though I need to go bigger if I do get bigger tent but think in future I am just going to grow in small pots.
