Indoor Where to place carbon filter

Assuming you're running the filter on a fan and it's an enclosed space, unless you have a matching intake fan you'll be creating negative pressure in the space. So pretty much all the air flow will go out through the filter wherever it's placed as far as smell mitigation due to the vacume it creates. They're usually put at the top of the space above everything else since heat rises and even with good LED's or floursecents, there will still be heat. Putting the fan/filter near the top of the space will help cycle the most heat out of the space.

Ya its a closed system in a walk in closet. Well its a 8 inch hurrican inline fan so i think i should be good

Top rear. I used to hang my filter with bungee cords etc. For the past several years I have been expelling warm air to my filter outside the tent. As long as you have a window cracked and fresh air coming in, all is fine doing it that way.

They don't last as long this way though as the dust cover around the outside isn't on the inside so any dust pushed through the carbon will clog the little holes faster

Just get a replacement filter and cut it up then stick it on the inside. You can either keep the outside filter or replace it with a stocking or two if your fan is struggling or dust blows out of the filter.

Haven't tried this myself but I did see someone using this setup.
