Hi folks,

I hope you guys can help me with some first hand experience. I am growing in organic peat base soil with added compost, worm castings and other inoculants such as TNC MycorrMax (Kelp Meal, Trichodermas & Mycos). Used Biotabs before but my plants got nitrogen excess / burn quiet often with them.

Right now I am using 8l/2gal fabric pots. Soil mix is 70% Biobizz Light Mix, 20% Perlite, 10% Worm Castings and as mentioned TNC MycorrMax watering with ph adjusted tap water with an EC of 0.5. Seeds where planted this morning after germinating them in paper towel. Light source is a Kingbrite QB288 LM310B 4000K 120w pcb running 18/6 and start with about 250ppfd.

Temps and humidity are stable, daytime 72,5F 65% and during the dark 68F 60%. Using a humidifier in the tent during the first weeks during the day and a dehumidifier in flower 24h.

Whats your guess how long the 2 gallon will last in these conditions untill I really need to to dress? Last grow I started after the second week which ended up stunting growth due to heavy nitrogen excess.

too many options to really hash out and guess really. whats going to matter imo is the genetics ad environment you are running. but as a geeral rule to organics with autos I tend to use a top dress just before or right at whe the stretch stops since typically thats when you'll see fading and so on. My NNNN button is a little on the fucked side atm.LOL aggressive strains feed far more than others so theres many options and time frames to top dress really. but usually thats a good time to top coat your pots.

Genetics are Mephisto Genetics at the moment. Grew Northern Cheese Haze last and just started 2x 3 Bears OG in 2 gal pots. My top dressing works fine, thats not the issue I am just curious how long those 2 gal will last. First time using smaller container and dry amendments / fertilizer. Last run I amended in week 3 which was too early. No real burn but lots of heavy clawing and slowed down growth.
This run I will wait until she stretches hard if possible...

oh,well thats a crap shoot depending on how big it is.having grown the cheese from them its a good medium plant so imo you will get about till the first week or two into flower at most unless the soil is really packed with foods and you dont over water too much. possibly less if its a weaker soil.Meaning just lighter on the foods in the soil. thats why I tend to prep a top coating for flower with a hit of N since most plants can use it then since the fade starts. but thats my best guess broseph. :pass:

Thanks mate. Your best guess helps, believe it or not ;)

I use a few products for top dressing. Baltic Worm Castings NPK 2,2-1,7-7,54, Guanokalong Bat Shit Powder NPK 1-10-1, Guanokalong Palm Tree Ashes NPK 0-1-30 and TNC Mycorr Max. The worm castings add additional 5,3% humic acids and MycorrMax has a decent amount of kelp meal made from Ascophylum nodosum. As soon as she starts to stretch hard she gets one N+P heavy feeding and in late flower once a week a K heavier feeding. And finally every feeding get's watered with added molasses.

This is just a rule of thumb, but it's pretty close given genetics all feed different, times will also vary.... but... if I'm planning for a water only grow, I plan 1 gallon of soil for every month of life I expect the run to go... so 2 gallons will go roughly 2 months without needing feed, provided there is enough in the soil. Most autos run 70 to 90 days, so 3 gallon is the smallest I run. Photos indoor, 7 to 10 gallon, outdoor its 20, but that is for an entirely different reason.

Rule of thumb. Yeah. I grew in 1, 2, 3,4 & 5 gallon fabric pots. My grow space is pretty much closet size. 2x2x5,6. I went with the 2 gallon because they keep the plants from becoming monsters. This way I can let them grow without any training exept some leaf tucking and lolli popping. Because I don't train my plants much they usually finish pretty much on time. 65-75 days for most of the Mephisto cultivars I grew

2 months sounds pretty good to me. Soil has an EC of 0.7. I added 4 handful of worm castings so might be about 1.0 EC now. Anyway good to know we agree on the fact that 2 gallon is plenty and should last a while.

Thanks mate!
