New Grower What's the deal with SLOW flowering autos?

Beauties! Thanks for the photos. It does give me an idea about training ... actually helps tremendously! You guys are all so generous with your help, I hope I don't wear out my welcome LOL. Am sure I will need a refresher course when I am ready to put this into action in a few weeks.
No worries, glad to be of help. That's what the AFN vibe is all about. :vibe: Once you get your confidence and skills going, you can help someone else! :headbang: or just guide them to someone here at the forum. There's always a way to pay it forward! :toke:

your stunting them by restricting the root space. if you want to transplant then id suggest having a read into doing it this way. rockwool is easily tranplanted into any media and wont let your plants become root bound.

Thanks, @EvilScotsman I will read up on this and maybe try it this way. I know nothing about rockwool or root riots for that matter. We were just using soil in a little seedling cup then transplanting at around 2 weeks.

You will not be disappointed in Mephisto grows. I suggest starting a journal, you will get all the guidance you desire. I would personally be more than happy to help with lst.

Ok @Yeatster I will hold you to that when the time comes! And I will hopefully start a journal when we begin the next grow with our Mephisto beans in January. Have to go out of town between Christmas and New Years for a week, then will get things started shortly after that I hope.

Sounds good. You know how to tag me:pass: I will join in for the ride.

What size pot are you starting them in and how long do they stay in the smaller pot?

For the most part this is how we have done it in the past:

After they germinate in damp paper towels between 2 dinner plates we put them in little seedling cups in Happy Frog, and set them about 2 inches under a 3 bulb T-12 flourescent fixture on one end of the tent (it is mostly shielded from the hps light) where they sprout and stay until the width of the plant is equal to width of cup (10-12 days maybe?). Then we transplant them into 6-7 inch 1 gal net pots in Ocean Forest and move them about 20-24" under the 400w hps light. (Don't ask me why he uses net pots I don't know, that's just how he has done it.) When the leaves reach the sides of those 1 gal net pots we transplant them into 3 gal airpots and they go about 30 inches under the 1000w hps (at around 4-4.5 wks of age maybe?)

Houston....we likely have a problem in the PH vector of medium quadrant A"
LOL
Seems that FF soils have been having quite a bad rap lately. Any chance you can get promix hp for your next run? As for the FF nutes though....there is Nothing wrong with FF nutes at all....in fact if I could still get FF nutes here i would still be using them(used them for 2 seasons outdoors)

A Fox Farm soil problem as in terms of unstable pH? In addition to FF our hydro store also carries ProMix BX, Sunshine Advanced Mix [HASHTAG]#4[/HASHTAG] and Roots Organics. Nutrient lines they carry include Advanced, Botanicare, Cyco, Fox Farm, GH/GO, House and Garden, Age Old, Alaska, ... plus a whole bunch more. Am totally open to change so feel free to recommend. I need to get this figured out within 4-6 weeks.

You can make instatransplant pots out of large beer cups, but 6 days after you plant you will like start to see roots starting to pop out the lower side holes, by day 10 they should be planted in new medium.

Sounds like we have been waiting too long to get the babies into bigger pots. I think the goal for upcoming grow will be to do one transplant (or maybe intra transplant) from seedling cups to 3 gal airpots by 10 days. Everything currently in the tent will be done by then so we won't have floor space restrictions. How will I know how much to water a small plant in a big pot? Maybe a stupid question.

Personally i do not see any serious flaws in this approach, though insta pots would be a totally stress free transplant, and they come with a benefit of being able to check root growth to see how roots are forming. For all of the plants to be the size they unanimously are, again it sure does look to be medium related!

Grab a bale of promix bx and add in 25% perlite. That will essentially give you promix HP, which is a more aerated mix of the BX.

Out of all of the nutrients you listed i have personally only run Advanced Nutrients and Foxfarm. I wont run botanicare or GH/GO due to them being montsanto run companies, but there is guys that do very well with both of those lines. If you can sport the excess cost Advanced nutrients is an excellent line, capable of growing giants. Foxfarm is a solid line...check this thread out for some tips https://www.autoflower.org/threads/the-way-of-the-fox.52860/
Any chance they have green planet nutrients? They run similar to advanced nutrients and cost roughly 2/3rds of the cost.

I have an auto that is growing so slow its unbelievable! I got it in the seedsupreme mix pack so I have no idea what strain it is and it was one of 3 out of 10 that even popped (so I suggest saving your money if you plan on ordering this mix pack) I am not a new grower but this was my first attempt at autos the first 2 were finished in 9-11 weeks and this big fat lady is at 29 weeks and still going. Id guess she has about 3 more weeks to go but I have consistently been wrong with this plant. Has anyone ever had an auto that just wont stop growing?
