Harvest & Curing whats happening during curing..

There is some off gassing and decomposition of some nasty stuff beyond just chlorophill. Ever smell or taste fresh Sour Diesel or Skunk? Yet SD well cured has outstanding smell and taste!

the terpines decompose and take on new forms just like thc and cannabanoids

ie. fresh roadkill smells putride but aged gets sweeter smelling believe it or not:)
alot of hunter and farmers know about this situation

oops
everything is slowly decomposing on a cellular level as new cells are replaced and alterred like during decomposition
fresh compost of animal processings can darn near make you black out at times but as in composts and decomposes it sweetens up (well and some ammonia disipates as well usually:))
the plant as long as it has stored energy it will break down and all we can really do by curing and drying it is slow decomposition but we can never really stop it
even under freeze cell walls are ruptured and destroyed but things dry faster once frozen because thoose cells are ruptured and moisture is easily drawn away once the cell wall is compromised
but that is sorta dif just a kinda comparison w/ regards to decomp

we take the moisture out of things to slow microbial growth that will break down and aid in decomposition
the more moisture present the faster they can grow and replicate to make comditions for fungus and mold to take hold
is moisture isn't available it slows the process and the addition of heat increases growth rates as well
asa things decompose they give off heat from the energy used and this alone w/ moisture provides a good point for fungus to take hold
hope some of this is alittle clear

Once jarred and in the proper rh range w/ a 62% Boveda pack ... how long before the average weed hits full potency ? How long before it loses significant potency ?

Some are saying chemical processes, time or heat dependent. Yet presumably these would occur just the same in bone dry weed. Perhaps the drying is simply a means of concentrating the solute into the remaining liquid. Yet this would suggest chemical reaction rather than simple decay. Suppression of molds certainly occurs, yet are we seeing fermentation, much like how black tea is made. Sealing the weed is mason jars suggests we are deliberately attempting anaerobic fermentation, we even off-gas by burping them. Far from seeking oxidation of chlorophyll, we are oxygen deficient. Take water cured weed for example. A tasteless, odourless product, exactly what some people want. It is still noticeably stronger after sitting in the bag for a month then when first produced. Thus there is still some chemistry going on. It is not the THCA to THC, since I have oven baked to induce that and the weed is no stronger.

The longest I ever stored weed w/ a Boveda pack was about 2 years and the weed was just as fresh (fresher) than when I stored it and still got me off ... :peace:

quick question.. can it be too cold during drying? i have to keep my window ac unit on high in order to make my tent with a 600w hps cool but im also drying in the same room so its about 60 degrees with an RH of 57%..should i move it or is that all good? :bong:

Temps in the low 60's aren't a problem but be sure to monitor the rate at which your weed is drying ... if too fast, try to limit moving air and if too slow you might want to add a LITTLE moving air ... w/ an rh of 57% you should have no problems w/ over drying as long as you don't use too much air ...
