Hello hello. Kicking off my second grow. My first, while small little plants, created quite a stink. Now my plant has already doubled the size of my old one at 4 weeks of age. Long story short, this girl is gonna funk up my house!

Looking into a carbon filter to scrub the smell. I found this one and it seems to be just what I need for a decent price.

Agree? The only downside I heard is that it's a loud device, but that can be controlled if you get the speed control. I thought about trying to build my own, but Im not all that handy.

Thoughts?

Don"t do it bro! Take my word for it that combo sucks-you will still get odor. I had one of those combos and it needed ona gel to help cover the smell. It is a noisy fan and the speed control doesn't help it much. I switched up to a sunleaves 4" windtunnel inline fan-super quiet,200cfm and paired it with a 4"x12" phresh filter-you could have a dead skunk in your room and that phresh filter would cover it up. In the fan/filter world you get what you pay for and spendin the extra $ is well worth it.Hope that helps.

Thanks man! I had read about it being loud. Which had me concerned. Didnt hear about it not scrubbing the smell (which, DUH, is the whole point). Ill go ahead and look at some other options! Was it hard to combo those two items? Im not what you would call "handy" lol.

Also curious, and I think I know this answer but want to double check, do you have to connect a combo like this to tubing to push the air out of the room? I grow in my laundry room, and can hack into the exhaust for my dryer if need be. I didnt know if you could just have it run in the room solo.

That damn htg fan sounded like a jet engine and it was mounted in my attic above my grow closet-i had it wrapped in insulation and mountedwith a styrofoam buffer pad between it and the mount and it was still noisy. The filter that came with it only cut the smell in half and it was still noticeable. The windtunnel i got from greners and it was $125 and the phresh fi;ter cam from plantlighting hydro for $69. It was easy to connect the two-i use 10" of duct to connect the 2 and use sheetmetal screws to secure them and then tape the seams with foil tape.If you can drill a hole and turn a screwdriver your golden bro lol. I usually run my exhaust out of the room to get the heat out,you could connect to your dryer duct if thats what you got.

Yea it is pretty loud HAHA, that was the combo i bought without doing any research.... Getting ready to go with a 6 inch inline fan and a phresh filter

This is the one thing I haven't worked out yet. I have a 2.5ftx3ftx5ft grow cabinet that has a small fan, air intake at bottom(computer fan), forced upper outtake thru a carbon canister filter. I will be only growing 1, maybe 2 plants at a time with a 180w LED. I have tried a computer fan, a small marine fan I had from my boat and a small shop fan(this was a lol moment before I even tried it). I can't push anything thru my DIY filter.I have good air flow without the filter. Haven't tried the pull thru method but don't think it would work either. Any ideas for a smaller grow space like mine? I may just get alot bigger grow cabinet so I have space for a inline fan/filter combo. Have any of you looked at the bathroom vent fans? Some of those are super quiet and move 80 to 360plus cfm. They can cost from $120 to $250.

I have a grow closet similiar in size to yours, mine is 33"x33"x5ft tall.I have a sunleaves windtunnel 4" inline 2oocfm fan with a 4"x12" phresh carbon filter and it does the trick perfectly for that size cab.My passive intake hole is cut to 6" and creates plenty of airflow with the fan pulling air thru the filter.
