New Grower What NOT to do: CJ Soma's guide to Noobs

I read this in a thread posted by CJ Soma... He reallu hits some great points and it made me realize that we didnt have a "What NOT to do manual". These things are so often overlooked when there isnt a sfety reason to pay special attention to them. CJ!

Wow I was completely lost lol after a lot more reading and the shame of my fully flowered 2 inch plant, I havent destroyed anymore of Stiches work haha. The plants I thought I ruined turned out ok thanks to everyones help ill put up a few pics. This will be my 1st successful grow and I only used molasses after I saw the 1st plant stay the size of a 50cent piece. I recognize my errors now and learned alot this grow im 100% sure i could have gotten bigger yeilds but the more important than yeilds I have my first grow under my belt. I had fun and I have lots of medicine :] The reason I came back to this is not b/c i wanted to share my grow techs, (IMO I will consider myself noobish until im a creator of a strain <high hopes...get it>) but to be honest about a few mistakes i made hopefully i can help some ppl out. So time to embarrass myself one more time with:

CJ SOMA's Guide to FCKing up EVERYTHING
(Mistakes I Made)

10. Checking/Harassing my ladies every 5 mins. (IDK the exact science behind it but Ive heard and also think that to much attention can stress you and your ladies)
9. I didnt have my lights on a timer the first couple weeks so anytime i left town my plants either went 24hrs of light or 0 hours. (For sure your babies benefit from a game schedule)
8. I dont know how many times I dropped my Iphone or some heavy object on my babies and had a heart attack cause I broke leaves. (Moral of this is keep your hobby area clear so u can move around without damaging anything)
7. Dont go cheapo/off brand on the nutes, soil, or lights. (Sub-par tools will get sub par results, this is not always true if you have a good grasp on what your doing but in the beginning IMO its safer to use known brands and techniques)
6. Keep it quite. (This means 2 things most important dont tell anyone about your new project you will be surprised how some ppl react to this news and even more suprised when someone you didnt tell comes and ask you how your ladies are doing. The 2nd part to that is if your space is indoors and you have more than 4 plants plan on the smell filling your house if not vented somehow. I personally freaked out when i came home from a late movie and while on my front porch fumbling with the door keys was greeted by the aroma of Stiches best work. Only had 5 HBDs)
5. Continue to Read, Read, Read. (Improvements on nutes, techniques, and strains will continue to be made and you will find yourself out of the network* haha if you dont diligently try to improve)
4. Keep a photo and written journal. (You can fix alot and get better advice with details. Its so hard to troubleshoot when you have medication in your system and your tryin to remember the last feed or water day)
3. Dont have the mind frame more is better. (Ive over watered, and over-Neemed my girls thinking ehh just a teaspoon more will make things happen faster)
2. Dont stress. (PATIENCE, FUN, AND INCREASE IN SKILL IMO are the most important things to take away from any grow mistakes. They will always be made you just have to walk away more knowledgeable. The O Shit! moments are the best teachers)
1. Before I even thought of buying seeds or building my growbox i was cautioned against most of the things i did wrong, but the excitment of wow im actually growing can cause a guy to forget everything he just learned my last piece of advice is get your questions answered by the right ppl before something goes wrong. And if it happens remember my 2nd lil piece of advice.

Hope this helps at least one guy not have my headaches. Feel free to add to it, edit it or move it. JM can you help me out with a Disclaimer lol. I dont grow cannabis or do anything illegal so no need to fly helicopters over my house on "Mars"

thanks . i saved it as surely will mess up something.

Good advice, learn from your own mistakes and of course from other's mistakes.
Rule number 7 was my mistake for a couple of grows.

All the things i do lol...at least I'm not the only one

Another great reason to keep your grow to yourself... others will wanna check it out, and as a new grower, you'll be proud of your girls, and want to show them to friends.... until one of them regularly visits another local grower who has pest issues... now you have pest issues.... been there. Nothing like dealing with spider mites, to have them reaper regularly... took me a while to get the concept...I had this one friend showing up with unwanted guests, turned out he was "growing" (term used loosely here) in his closet.

Great post, very nice read as a "noob" myself! I strongly agree with rule 5 " read read read " knowledge is power and researching for new info is like mining for gold and hitting the jackpot every time!! You cannot learn to much!

Stay lit bro :pass:
