New Grower What makes a strain OG?

Og is ocean grow
I have read that and "original gangsta" as far as the meaning. But what makes a strain grown in a basement in Kansas "ocean grown"? Some breeders say things like this strain is straight up OG or the growing structure is very OG.

Most form what i understand it ties the genetics back to an original Land race or Specific cut of cannabis. Or at least in the breeders world that is what i have learned it to be.

OG Kush is a legendary staple in American genetics on the west coast. It was a cross of chemdawg 91 and Hindu Kush. The OG stands for ocean grown I'm assuming that was influenced by the origins or methods the original crop was grown in. Street slang for og is the original member of a gang having highest ranking and most respected. The term is also used as the best, the classic standard of comparison, the highest quality or most respected version of something. if it's weed it should in fact have og kush lineage or it's just good bud by another name. I've seen actual crops of OG Kush in Kansas basement s lol
